Yeah - seen you and beating the dead horse reference before - we'll see int he end who's right. BTW keep your eye on a Bronco-styled pickup truck and Ford won't be so short-sighted and assine to build only a four door - taking market share from the Gladiator...
I think the polarization would be eliminated if Jeep expanded the Gladiator offering to include at least an extended cab version. I have written Jeep in 2006 just after the Gladiator concept was first shown as an extended cab at 2005 NAIAS auto show. I pleaded with them for a Jeep pickup and...
Funny how there's so much said about no market for a smaller cab/longer bed Jeep pickup - all but two of the two door regular cab trucks on Rubitrux are sold!!!
WOW! What a beauty - thanks for the tip on this website - I book marked it. Finally a source for a sweet two door Jeep pickup that doesn't cost $90k. The heck with battling Jeep to build a two door or extended cab Gladiator with a longer bed - I can just shop Rubitrux!
The Bronco is confirmed for reveal at the 2020 NAIAS in June. Ford has already announced a pickup truck variant by 2023. Based upon what has been revealed so far, there will be numerous configurations responding to all market segments and not leaving any preferences out - as they should.
We as the consumer shouldn't have to buy a $55,000 Gladiator and then drop another $30-$40k just to get a shorter cab and longer bed - build some differing cab and bed configurations please!
Before Ford does so with the Bronco.....just say'in....
You are spot on!!! The 2005 Gladiator concept is what got all this modern version Wrangler Pick-up Truck buzz started.
What is ironic, is Jeep constantly rolls out these very cool concepts, wets everyone's appetite and then they say "There's no market"; "there's no business case"; "buyers want...
I'll bet Ford doesn't make the same mistake with the Bronco that Jeep made with the Gladiator. Ford will maximize the variants of the Bronco - full size; - "baby Bronco"; - and they've already announced a truck. That's the way to get return on investing in a new model....
The 2021 Dakota Extended cab has been rendered:
This looks really good and for those of us who don't want to be forced into a crew cab - this looks really good!
From what I have read of the upcoming Bronco with two variants (2-door and 4-door and pickup) removable and hard tops, removable doors, etc - Ford is going hard at the Wrangler and Gladiator - it will be interesting to see how it all unfolds and what Bronco variants are actually brought to...
Actually the J6 is a very capable truck even though it is a concept - it can tow 7,000 lbs and haul over 1,100 lbs even though it is in fact based upon a JLU frame. I hope they make it but who know.
You make a lot of really good points.
Its just that for me - I don't need a crew cab truck and I refuse to lay out all that money - even for a Gladiator Sport - for a truck configuration I won't use. Where I do need space is in the bed - a six foot bed would make all the difference. But I have...
I think this is a very intriguing thread and koodoos for starting it!
In my opinion, I think the J6 will be produced. If not in a two door as shown in Moab it will be an extended cab. Either way, lifestyle or whatever you need to have a 6 foot bed configuration in this market.
That said, I...
