Splitting hairs I know, been 8+. People been complaining about it on the JL since it was released in late '17. Obviously same system. I think you're assessment is quite accurate lol.
Blast from the past! This thread is 6 years old. The guy you're replying to hasnt logged in for 3 and a half years almost. I don't know if he cares much about the grab handles at this point. But some of us are still around.
Just since we're here, I dont remember what I ended up getting, I think...
What happened to the 5.2? Same thing that happened to the original Chrysler 318 polyhead, got replaced. Never had much use for the LA engine when an RB fits in pretty much any of the same spots. People complaining about the 318 must not be remembering the LA also came in 273 and was even more...
They're a cool piece of GM history. Mine being an Alaska truck had the complete original Stewart Warner swingfire heater setup which is that pipe in the front fender there. Super handy when I'd go to visit my then gf now wife who lived in Fairbanks. I met a guy at a gas station in Healy on a...
Man all this K5 talk is triggering memories. My K5 was the M1009 variant. 6.2 diesel you want to talk about gutless lol. It was terrible with open 3.08s even on stock tires. It eventually got 14 bolts out of an M1008 truck with the 4.56s. I'd get behind cars on the highway, wait til I was going...
Looks phenomenal! I just don't see young people outside the motorpool or people born into the fabrication world doing it because it's fun for them. Part of that is great, it means the stuff available today isn't breaking as much as the old stuff. But they'd rather pay for the work they do need...
People don't want to have to do the wrench time to be able to get outdoors anymore. The only place I see people welding their rigs together anymore is lower enlisted housing on base. These newer rigs are pretty capable. People don't have to shorten Chevy 14 bolts and figure axle geometry and...
I use Severe Gear 75-90 and always have. Maybe if you tow more than you don't I'd go to something thicker. People going with a thicker oil probably are just used to doing so, I doubt it'll hurt anything except maybe a fraction of a mpg.
I don't know how you get any bigger payload than a dually though, they sticker between 5 and 8k pounds. I guess you can get one of these, I've seen them but they're 200k. Very cool rigs though.
To be fair my F350 Tremor with the 4200 lbs payload comes with a flyer in the glove box saying it's not rated for any slide in camper either. I don't know why, but a lot of Fords at least come with that flyer.
My Gladiator Rubicon I paid 43k for 5+ years ago. Chrysler is rumored to be doing a 35% msrp price reduction across all brands and models, that's the rumor. I was talking about Ram specifically, I hope you can't spec a 100k dollar Gladiator.
That's the rumor and God I hope it happens. Making a 100k $ truck now 65k would be huge, would definitely jumpstart sales, and Ford and Chevy would have to respond. It would suck for people like me who bought into the crazy market, but I keep my ordered vehicles forever anyway, I hope it happens.
The door sticker I posted is from a PW, my Gladiator stickers at 1400lbs. I absolutely agree about the running gear you still get the SFA and all that it's a sweet truck if you are going to actually offroad it. If you don't really need it to work, it makes the most sense as an offroader for...
I didn't know about this, I knew about the PW Rebel which was not really a PW, but that is interesting. It must not be as capable as the dedicated PW, but it does retain the front locker and swaybar disconnect it looks like. That is pretty cool.
I didn't read through all of this, but my only problem with the PW, is getting a 2500 Ram and the payload being less than my Gladiator. It can technically tow more, but with no payload you'll have a hard time doing anything meaningful. The whole concept of a heavy offroader is ridiculous, but...
2nd is a problem in these for sure. At 25mph it's pretty wound out screaming but you shift to 3rd and it falls flat on it's face, it's very awkward. Like I said it could have been geared to make sense. Instead it was important to Chrysler to make it so you can't use 6th until you're going 75mph...
