  1. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Finally got to my new tail lights! I used the gen right matrix leds and their steel weld through mounts. I made some sheet metal replacements to fill in where the stock lights go, and tig welded the whole thing together with silicon bronze so I could keep the heat low. Fingers crossed I can...
  2. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK]

Both, this one has been fun. My first cage and engine swap. Lots of custom CNC work. Kept me busy the last year. Car runs and drives though, just trying to get everything clean :) When this is done, welding up some metal tail lights based off the GR JL lights soon. So I'll "hopefully" have...
  3. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK]

Not gone, just busy with the car right now :P Wrapping up a giant wire mess!
  4. What does the ole Girl weigh?

Your daily driver with 42s... I still feel like my previous point is valid :)
  5. What does the ole Girl weigh?

You aren’t going to bob the bed… yet. Don’t say never Rob.
  6. What does the ole Girl weigh?

There is a surprising amount of random metal you can cut off your Jeep if you try :P I likely removed north of 50 lbs of random brackets and reinforcement points that were bypassed with aftermarket mods. Cutting the bed helps too! Mine is hovering around 6k. Which makes sense if you think about...
  7. Is it possible to remove the factory receiver hitch?

Motobilt did do a good job with theirs, but you can also bob your own bed with about 2 days and some basic tools: welder, grinder, etc.
  8. Is it possible to remove the factory receiver hitch?

I ran over the microwave when it stopped working a couple months ago. My husband said that was highly aggressive. I thought it was funny...
  9. Is it possible to remove the factory receiver hitch?

The slightly more aggressive approach: I removed my hitch with a plasma cutter. That’s one option :) As the second iteration, I replaced it with a reinforced metal bar with d-ring mounts.
  10. Insurance for engine swaps?

Someone else mentioned it, but I also have Grundy. I called just about every insurance company a couple years ago trying to insure my Jeep and race car (everything but while on track). Several companies, including Hagerty will do the race car, but the Jeep being newer, having a lift, and larger...
  11. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

My trailer fenders fell off. The folded aluminum fender "connectors" started to tear, and progressively tore all the way off due to the bouncing I assume. Time for an upgrade. It always annoyed me having to unscrew and remove them, so I'm trying something I saw randomly on YouTube a while back...
  12. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Here are a couple of the pieces. I also have one at my office with really delicate little flowers. The picture doesn’t do it justice, but pine cone is has some super impressive detail.
  13. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Had some fun with the track bar bracket :( This one is clearly my fault for not welding at a high enough temperature. Start of the story: - Before the trip I had saw some metal stress in the bracket. I cleaned and re-welded the bracket. My welds looked clean and I didn't see any signs of...
  14. Northern Virginia Jeepers Invade the West

Here are some more pictures of the group from Rubicon :)
  15. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

We did the Rubicon a couple days ago with 4 Gladiators and what used to be a JK. It was a blast, only regret was that it only took 2 days :P We had planned for 3, clearly should have slowed our pace. New fenders performed well, they flexed out nicely with zero chance of interference. I did...
  16. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Had to do a last minute repair on my Jeep while on the road :/ Discovered a bad bushing that I missed. Have to give props to Dixie 4 wheel drive. I tried 4 shops before them and was offering part numbers, multiple days, and generally just trying to make an easy job simple for them. Kept getting...
  17. Practical Truck for the Over Prepared Woman

Planning to do some west coast trails soon, so made a couple long delayed updates. Rebuilt my suspension Finally replaced my stock fenders Found some metal stress, so re-welded my track bar / ram mount I had been sold on the GR fenders for a while, but recently saw someone else’s dent after a...
  18. Running 40's with Dana 44s

I’m still running 40s successfully on my stock housing. I did end up swapping to 5.38 gears. Those feel really good. Biggest weakness I’ve seen so far is they beat up your suspension bushings. If you are off-roading a lot, expect to do a rebuild every couple years. That’s on RK’s suspension...
