  1. Shocks for Metalcloak 3.5” true dual rate kit

No, I cannot confirm. I installed my Falcon SP2 3.3 shocks on a Clayton 3.5" Overland Plus kit. Probably, best to call MC and check it out. Note: the rear extension of these shocks is long, so, it is possible to unseat certain springs at full extension. It is best to install the Teraflex JT...
  2. How to fit a winch solenoid by the battery?

This is what I did about 50K miles ago. It has worked perfect so far.

For a half day trip - Hungry Valley, Rowher Flats, Drinkwater Flats For a day trip - the Big Bear Badge of honor trails - Holcomb, John Bull, Gold Mountain; Johnson Valley Trails. For a long weekend trip - The Rubicon Trail
  5. Long Arm-Mid Arm VS Long Arm-Triangulated 4 Link

Nice pics, thanks ! I also run a lot of tough trails. With our long wheel base, I also agree that drop brackets are problematic. I run a 3.5" Clayton kit with 37s and I still scrape the rear control arm brackets at trails like The Rubicon trail, and The Big Bear badge of honor trails. I...
  6. Lift with no other goal than clearance for deep snow?

I would think the front diff. is the big snow catcher... Bigger tires or portals are the only way to address that.... I guess an independent front end would give you more clearance in the snow.
  7. Installed Clayton Lift, now have steering wheel shimmy.

I have the same lift for over 50K miles now. No problem. In addition to what others have said, I added a RPM 2.5 ton tie rod and drag link. The steering and tracking tightened up tremendously. That together with a new steering stabilizer made a big difference in the feel of the front end...

  9. Metal Cloak vs. Clayton

Here is me from 2020. I ended up going with the 3.5" Overland Plus kit with the Giiro joints. Now 4 years and 50K miles later and running the Rubicon Trail twice and the Big Bear badge of honor trails many times, I am very happy with the kit. The joints are still great and the articulation...
  10. Clayton 2.5 vs 3.5 Overland Premium Lift Comparison

I have done The Rubicon trail twice with my Clayton 3.5" Overland kit on my JTR. Get the 3.5" lift and 37 inch tires, you will need it, and you will be very happy you did. Great sliders, Skids on your rear control arm brackets (Front bracket part), and nodular iron rear diff cover or rear...
  11. Shocks for Metalcloak 3.5” true dual rate kit

I am running the Falcon SP2 3.3 fast adjust for over 50K miles and they have been bullet proof. Lots of badge of honor trails and the Rubicon trail twice. The best off-road shocks I have every purchased. The quick adjustability really comes in very handy with various loads and terrains...
  12. Falcon steering stabilizer not recentering

Assuming it is not ball joint stiffness, and they need to break-in.... then this ----- With a lift kit, the Steering wheel not re-centering after a turn, is a typical symptom of not having enough positive caster. Do you have a lift kit ? If so, shoot for 6.5 positive caster, ie. point the...
  13. 2021 Gladiator Eating Cams

fyi, I had some problems with my Passenger side head intake cam and I learned a lot about these engines. On the intake cam only, At low lift, there are rollers that ride on two thin cam lobes. At high lift there is one thick cam lobe that rides on the "flat tappet" part of the rocker which is...
  14. What is Jeep doing? So lost at this point

Every automobile is geared from the factory for mpg. My manual Rubicon Gladiator with 5:13 gears and 37" tires is geared excellent now. So, since all the modification people change tires and gears anyway, I do not see the argument regarding gearing. The stock clutch has also not been a...
  15. GMRS Radio Variables

Yeah, you are right. My mistake, I double checked. My brother put in LMR-400 not the 600. Sorry for the mistake. I will fix my post. Thanks again. Note: Besides the decrease in losses, I think the LMR-240UF has great shielding that is much appreciated in Jeeps. Seems to me to be much...
  16. GMRS Radio Variables

Note: I was using the Midland MicroMobile® Low Profile Antenna Cable - MXTA24 for my MIdland MXT575 - 50 watt. I was having problems, and I changed out the cable for another MXTA24 RG58U cable. This seemed to fix it maybe a little for a while, but, problems were always persistant. Tuning...
  17. Are there any check engine or warning lights when we eliminate the FAD and put in a 1 piece passenger side axle??

Note: some guys have reported slight vibration when removing the FAD with a lift kit. The additional parts free-wheeling, but, rotating at an angle is the culprit.
  18. Clayton Off Road JT Suspension Systems

I do not know of any sequence. I adjust each LCA first because they are usually the hardest. With only half a turn, you should be able to line up the bolt again pretty easily, but, you may have to have someone rock the truck a little. Also, using a long thick punch one one side can help you...
  19. Manual Transmission Discontinued for 2025

5:13 gears with 37 inch tires have provided great gear ratios for on road and off road. I am on my 3rd set of 37 inch tires. 71K miles and we have had zero problems with the clutch. Note: We never did the recall.
  20. Bent rear swaybar link

Note: If you must keep the stock setup, and not spend the cash on a Rock Jock antirock, make the adjustable links shorter so that the sway bar arm is not parallel to the ground. This will put a slight up angle to the sway bar arm and help it slide off the rocks better without bending the...
