  1. Key Fob - Temporarily Not Working

I guess I'll have to start wearing a jock, stuff the fob in the cup pocket. Ridiculous to have a critical component inoperative at 20°F, when most automotive components and systems are tested from -40° to +80°C. Jeep must have assumed that winter runners and cyclists drive Subarus.
  2. Is the external (pre '24) radio antenna just for AM/FM?

KSaAuto was what worked on my brother's Bronco, but was crap at both 6" and 13" lengths on my Gladiator.
  3. Is the external (pre '24) radio antenna just for AM/FM?

That was my first attempt, a couple years ago. Same poor reception as the KSaAuto 6" and 13"
  4. Is the external (pre '24) radio antenna just for AM/FM?

Thanks, but I don't do iSlave. Android Auto and stream the station on iHeartRadio when I'm out of range, but streaming adds commercials *where it thinks I am* and eliminates the local weather. 99% of the time, I want to listen on FM, but without having the factory antenna brutalized in the carwash.
  5. Is the external (pre '24) radio antenna just for AM/FM?

Any reduction in reception? Factory antenna getting the shit bent out of it (and sometimes gets tucked under mirror) in the car wash, want to go stubby. Tried a brand (ksa auto) that worked (after he tried multiple other options) on my brother's Bronco, but reception went to hell on my...
  6. Key Fob - Temporarily Not Working

Went looking for this topic, because I thought the battery was the problem the first time it happened to me. Putting in a new battery didn't prevent the problem the next time. I ride and run through the winter. If I put the fob in a pack, it doesn't work after about an hour exposed to the...
  7. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Everything back together and buttoned up. No ESS light, stop/start "ready." Tested stop/start at the end of my driveway, worked fine. I made sure to reconnect the main immediately after connecting the aux. Last time, aux was alone while I put the fender liner and mudflap back in place, so it's...
  8. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Found the fuse array, every position tested fine with the meter. Both batteries resting at 13.1V IBS has been disconnected all morning. Gonna give both batteries a topoff, then put everything back together. With the weather letting up, maybe not remote starting will make a difference for IBS...
  9. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Getting ready to go out to check individual voltages and check fuses. Other than F42, which fuses are related to this abominable ESS system?
  10. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

I definitely do NOT like ESS, would frequently press the button to disable after it turned off at a light, just didn't always remember to do after a start. When it didn't turn off, even though I hadn't yet pressed the button, was how I first noticed it might be time for a new aux. (No warning...
  11. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

ACDelco aux on 11Jan EverStart platinum H7 on 12Jan Full disconnect and full offboard charge 18Jan (after reconnect, started the 5 start countdown) Typical commute is 20 minutes. With morning temps sub-zero for most of past week, remote start runs for about 5 minutes before I get in. Prior to...
  12. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

The only thing I didn't do, since the batteries are brand new, was measure voltage after charging and measure again after sitting. I was counting starts with at least 8 hours between, yesterday afternoon was number 6. (Teleconference Wednesday, so only 7 hours between commute starts that day)...
  13. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

    Both batteries brand spanking new.
  14. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

I didn't measure the voltage after charging. Both batteries are new, both charged to "100%" when I had them and the IBS disconnected. So frustrating, no lights until after the new aux battery.
  15. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Disconnected both batteries completely, fully charged each battery with a Schumacher charger. IBS was completely disconnected and removed from vehicle for over 4 hours. Today after work was (at least 8-hours between) start number 6. The ESS light came on, along with the "service stop/start...
  16. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Leaving both battery terminals disconnected for 30 minutes before connecting the new H7 didn't help, I can say that. Put F42 back in.
  17. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Main was fully offline charged while replacing the aux. (Fender liner removal, remove, drive to town and back, reinstall) No starting issues or warning lights for the few trips between the new Aux battery and this morning's restart failure. Given 5+ years out of both and the typical reported...
  18. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

Also, pulled fuse 42 after light came on, no effect
  19. New Aux battery, ESS light now on, can't clear

For a few weeks, no ESS stops, but no light on. Yesterday, didn't remote start. (no messages, just didn't start) So I got in, wouldn't start from inside, either. I assumed the Aux battery had gone bad, draining the main down while sitting, replaced it. A couple trips of "ESS not available...
  20. Show me your front bumpers!!

Spacers and some hacking of the winch plate, installed the LoD signature stubby from my JK.
