ACE sliders finally arrived today, ordered 28Dec.
I've been eager to get these, so the cold rain wasn't going to stop me this evening.
No problems removing front bolts. No problems with center bolts. Right rear was fussy, but a few in-out cycles and a breaker bar completed the job.
On install...
A Jeeper (heavily modded YJ) co-worker wants to fabricate brackets like Voodoo for me.
(he's itching to fabricate stuff, after buying a bunch of equipment to fab a custom tranny crossmember with armor)
It doesn't look like Voodoo would have enough clearance for a tri-fold Tyger.
Full size (1 5/8)
Works great and strong as h_ll, but I want the ability to use anchors made for trail rails or Toyota rails. I have plans for my crossbars AND tri-fold tonneau. (I ride MTB regularly, need to mount my Rockymounts Tomahawk rack over the bed, not add to the JT's length with my...
P.S. my current setup for the tonneau, now with regular height Unistrut.
I didn't go with the Toyota setup, bought right and left Mopar rails from BAM. (Though if Toyota rails would have been local on Craigslist or Facebook marketplace, I would have had complete confidence in their strength...
My dealer wanted $135 each for the rails!
He also insisted that they didn't come with any tie-downs.
Looks like I'm going with BAM or maybe some Toyota rails.
I originally had low-profile unistrut, painted it black.
The anchor nuts slide easier in regular height. Regular is also more flush with the bed sides.
Unistrut clamps used as anchor points for the tonneau.
Unistrut is much heavier and stronger than OEM rails.
This main issue with not using OEM rails is the width of the channel opening. Attachments and anchors are for an opening slightly more than 9/16 inch, Unistrut notably wider than that.
It also appears Tacoma/ Tundra attachments work (or...
Since Mopar apparently performs reverse alchemy to make the trail rails, has anyone installed rails from a Tacoma or Tundra?
Anchors are basically interchangeable, so I would expect the rails to be similar in profile and strength.
It seems one would just need to cut to proper length and drill...
Whole rear bumper, rails, and brackets available from a Rubi takeoff near me.
I just wanted the rails, but this tells me buying new rails and brackets are as much as the takeoff, plus I'd have to permanently mod the original bumper.
Levers are readily available, from many sources.

The ACE Upper Decker has me thinking there is a metal "perimeter" solution waiting to be made.
Tonneau would attach to the metal, not the bed. The whole thing would pivot on front hinges or you could roll/fold the tonneau. Crossbars would attach on raised rails.
I really like where the Upper...
