Question for those with the Trail Rails

I will be having the same uses as you so your point is very valid, and for $260 its a super good price. Have you decided on your molle panels yet as there are several out now.

Have not decided which panels yet, still researching.

Do you think there are any advantages to having the trail rails? I am looking at mounting molle panels, and some type of cap or rack system. In your opinion would there be no difference with strut channel other than aesthetics?

‘I was looking at using strut channel as well but considering that the Alu-Cab’s clamps are designed to use with the trail rail I didn’t want to take that chance...

Yea considering how much that thing was, I think strut channel might make me a tad nervous also. lol

Unistrut is much heavier and stronger than OEM rails.
This main issue with not using OEM rails is the width of the channel opening. Attachments and anchors are for an opening slightly more than 9/16 inch, Unistrut notably wider than that.

It also appears Tacoma/ Tundra attachments work (or can be made to work with minimal mods) with Mopar rails.

They are side specific, typically I find the price online and have my local dealer match the price as it builds a good relationship with the dealer.

Other than the front rail and bolts, what else comes in the kit to justify almost another $100?

The front rail is roughly $73 more plus the bolts. I think the bolts in the kit are torx and not standard bolts. Not sure what else comes in the kit.[/QUOTE]

I originally had low-profile unistrut, painted it black.
The anchor nuts slide easier in regular height. Regular is also more flush with the bed sides.
Unistrut clamps used as anchor points for the tonneau.

I found out that the Alu-Cab requires the trail rail rack in order to use their clamps and I’m trying to find a replacement without having to buy the rails from Jeep.

If anyone who has the trail rails could measure the depth and width of the rails I would appreciate it. I have found several possible alternatives but want to match the OEM ones if at all possible.

IDK if you're interested, but the Tacoma and Tundra rail systems have the same inner dimensions and many accessories designed for Toyotas will fit the Jeep Trail Rail. This is a fork-mounted bike rack I added to mine using these T-bolts from Amazon.

My dealer wanted $135 each for the rails!
He also insisted that they didn't come with any tie-downs.
Looks like I'm going with BAM or maybe some Toyota rails.

I got the Toyota tie downs so I would have extras for my Trail Rails systewm, I like them better than the OEM.
