I've used pennzoil with an OEM filter on mine. It's what the book recommends and is widely available, so I just rolled with it. I'm not an oil snob and have no loyalty to a particular brand, so easy decision for me.
I've used mobil1 and valvoline in the wife's WK2, seems to work just fine.
not sure about the gap, but mine does not leak.

Depends more on the tire/ tread pattern you choose than the size. I went from 285/70R17 to 285/75R18. The 285 is the tire width in mm, so while my new tires are taller, they are not wider. Also, both the stock tires and the new tires are the same tread pattern - Falken Wildpeak AT3/W, so they...
Nah, when it first came out the LJ suffered the "It's too long" syndrome that the JT does. Then a lot of people figured out that sometimes that little extra wheelbase was a good thing.
Like i mentioned in another thread on a similar topic, there are a lot of people on here who are new to "Jeeps", and all the ruggedness and lack of refinement that comes with a "Jeep" (By "Jeep", i mean the CJs, YJ, MJ, TJ, JK, JL, JT) Other Jeep models are certainly more refined.
