So, we ended up trading it in on a 2022 GMC Canyon Denali. I have absolutely no patience for dealing with tire kickers. We got $38,500 for the Gladiator and bought the GMC for about $2000 under sticker. We would have had to get about $41,000 through a private parts sale to come out even with...
Carmax on line said $35,700, dealer said $35,000, and Edmunds private party said $42,000. Edmunds took into account all of the additions except the towing equipment. I paid $1500 plus installation for that.
2020 Gladiator with the 7" radio group, tow package, convivence group, 8 speed auto, freedom top, and Alpine audio. 34K miles. Color is white.
We have added a tri fold tonneau cover, spray in bed liner, leather seat covers, Overland wheels with 32" tires, Blue Ox base plate with Blue Ox tow...
Not a Jeep (have a Glad, but it's gas), but my RAM 1500 4X4 has averaged 25+ mpg in mixed use . Probably more highway. I have over 2000 miles on it now and it uses very little DEF. I filled it right after I bought it and it's still well over 3/4's full. No towing yet, but that's coming soon...
I'm going to politely disagree. I'll bet that most of the power increase can be had with just a good 93 octane tune on a Gladiator. From what I've seen with GM LS engines, unless you have ridiculously high static compression (13:1 for example), there's not much to be had going flex fuel...
Damn, Jeep sure complicated things. I've had many Magnuson blowers. Loved them for their simplicity. They don't break and the boost can be totally controlled with you right foot. I'm pulling for you to get this lined out. Mega attaboys to you for the effort!!
The big gains from ethanol use come if you up the static compression ratio appreciably and/or add forced induction into the mix. That's where its cooling properties and octane increase really shine. Not so much naturally aspirated with stock compression ratio. It ain't magic.
You'll get some of the extra money you spent for the diesel option back at trade in time. Maybe a large portion of it. Who knows....That's assuming this iteration of the diesel is a good one.
A friend had a Dodge Diesel half ton. Don't remember the year. He loved it. He had to take it in for a...
If you have a fairly heavy vehicle, small engine, and big tires, more gear can't do anything but help. Except for fuel eco.....but, that doesn't matter, right?
I agree that there may be areas of the tune that can be improved upon performance wise and MPG wise. There always is. I'd be willing to bet my vast fortune (in nickels, dimes, and quarters, it would fit in a #2 washtub) that the resulting tune would either be potentially harmful to the...
How much do you think it's going to cost to do the gear swap? Have to buy two. Believe it or not, I bought a brand new S10 Chevy 4x4 that had 3.73's in the front and 3.42's in the rear. Couldn't tell anything was amiss until you got on hard pavement in 4wd mode. Go figure on that one. Yeah, they...
The OEM's fight for every tenth of an MPG. If better MPG was as simple as adding a cold air intake that flows more freely, they'd have been foolish not to do so. They hire the brightest and the best from engineering schools across the nation. Like said above, less intake restriction comes at a...
0 vacuum and it has a throttle body. Sounds like I need to learn something new here...which is always a good thing. Diesel engines have no vacuum when not in boost. I'm aware of that as I own more than a few. All turbocharged.
Even if the boost is applied too much too soon, how is that a...
Have you ever driven one or even been around one? I can choose no boost, mild boost, full boost, or anything in between, with just manipulation of the right hand pedal.
Here's the question. Where, in the RPM band do you want your boost? If you have 8psi to work with, do you want it starting a 2500 rpm (TVS) and hanging in that range to rev limit? Or, do you want absolutely no boost at 2500 RPM (centri) and have it gradually building to 8psi at rev limit? For a...
That "coming on like a light switch" couldn't be further from the truth. I've had multiple Magnuson TVS blowers on trucks and Vettes. You could accelerate all of them rather briskly without even getting into boost. The most recent one was a Heartbeat TVS2300 blown C6 Vette with manual...
I have a thread a few notches down. Towed more with less. I have the Sport S with the tow package (not the max tow) with taller tires. It handled my 4000# bay boat without any issues. I was very comfortable while towing. My boat probably slipped through the wind better than your camper. But you...
My wife's Sport S Gladiator has the tow package, not the max tow. Also has 255/80r17's (33" tall tire) in place of the stockers. I was concerned that the taller tires would degrade its towing ability. I towed my 22' Pathfinder bay boat 250 miles in 95* S. Texas heat.
So, after that bit of...
