Pittsburgh is one of the least sunny major cities in the U.S. If Jeeps were sold with a REAL roof, I would pay more for that. I realize that's an unpopular take but a removable top is not a selling point for me, especially with the added noise, water issues, and load bearing troubles.
I went from a JLUWD to the 3.6JTR and I'm quite underwhelmed. Sure, the 3.6 is adequate....but I miss the diesel. To have such little power from the 3.6 and still only get 16 MPG is a sin.
That said, I did experience severe cooling issues with the 3.0 when towing.
I thought you can't order...
How was the trip back to The Doll House? Did you come down from the Flint Swithbacks or did you come in from Hite? Any issues with turning radius or breakover once the trail gets turny and shelfy? I've been back there in a JLU before and also stayed at DH3.
Giving the a super bump from ancient history in hopes that someone has some serious mileage with this swap and can comment. I got here from searching. Although there are 6 million threads on this topic....There seems to only be mild consensus that swapping Max Tow in place of the Rubi springs...
This past weekend I drove our Tesla (Y) from Utah to PA and it was seamless. Of course, superchargers are plentiful on 70 and 80. It usually took 15-30 min at each charge stop which was perfect to let our dog out. We did stop more frequently than we would have in our Jeeps but it really wasn't...
You were right on the line of derate but it looks like you stayed under it, good work. I think I first feel derate at 237 coolant and 257 oil temp. I also suspect that EGT is a part of the equation. I've had my rear passenger footwell heat up so much it that it softened up my floor mats to a...
I love my MTs in deep snow when you have to change lanes through that heavy line of slush and sludge that builds up alongside of the main tire tracks. In that scenario they don't do the snow equivalent of hydroplane. I ran the original rubicon BFG KMs for a decade in a western ski resort town...
Nice build, it's basically exactly what I'm contemplating. Love the hood decal and black grille.
Have the 35's been noticeably sluggish or not too bad? Gas mileage hit? Are you happy with no lift so far? Any idea how much sag from the bumper and winch?
I'm hopeful for the 5.7. Perhaps the 6.4 was a way to scoop up all of the high-dollar buyers over on the JLU side of the house and now they'll give the rest of us the 5.7. Am I correct to think...."if the 6.4 fits, why can'y the 5.7"? Or is that logic flawed?
Glad to hear it. I'm going to give it a go towing again tomorrow. I plan to leave earlier in the AM to try and beat some heat but it's a 4 hour drive so I'm sure it will reach the 90's towards the end. Got a fresh oil change today after my cooling troubles last weekend while towing. The problem...
Mine derated much sooner than those temps. Once it cracks 233 water or 255 oil I lost power.
I can only "slow-down" so much. Would barely do 55MPH at some points on an interstate that is signed 80MPH. I was a hazard to others. I do not believe I should have to purchase a full size truck to...
That exact spot was actually one heck of a hill, but I had this happen on I-15 all weekend too. Oil temp was my bigger issue on the highway.
I played with AC off and on. Made no difference.
Another example here...
I LOVED my 3.0. It's all I would talk about whenever anyone asked about my Jeep. When it's less than 85 degrees out, it has unlimited power. However, it really shits the bed when towing in the summer heat. Add in long western grades, steep passes, head winds, or high elevation and I'm worried...
