Haha it wasn't that much weight compared to what I have added already. Before these upgrades, my truck is running around 7,000 pounds and on 37s. I doubt very much the heavy control arms, etc. would slow the vehicle noticeably.
I recently had a bunch of things upgraded on my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon the other week (I'll list below). As soon as I got in it, pulled it down into Drive and hit the throttle, it felt like there was a drag in the driveline (at least that's how I perceive it) akin to the e-brake being on...
I had the Falcon 2.0s, which are three-way adjustable.
Rig sits about level now on 2.5s F&R. Clayton told me not to go to 3.5s in rear without getting a longer driveline, etc.
Thought I'd update you guys. A couple months ago I stepped up to the Clayton 2.5" springs front and rear and Falcon 3.3 shocks at all four corners. It's finally a set up that can handle all the weight I am running with on the truck during my expeditions. I recently weighed it and I am tipping...
Thought I'd update you guys. A couple months ago I stepped up to the Clayton 2.5" springs and Falcon 3.3 shocks. It's finally a set up that can handle all the weight I am running with on the truck during my expeditions. I recently weighed it and I am tipping 7,200 pounds. It's a big boy!
Just as an update for you guys:
I added more gear to the back of the rig, primarily a CargoGlide. With that, and all my stuff loaded up for extended journeys, the rear of my truck sits lower than the front and the shocks are overwhelmed by the weight.
I thought I could have the TeraFlex Falcon...
Up for sale: the four FOX shocks from the MOPAR 2" lift kit.
I put the MOPAR 2" lift on my Gladiator Rubicon. But the shocks were valved too soft for all the components I have on the rig. So, I swapped them out for some stiffer Teraflex Falcons.
So, now I am looking to let go of the FOX...
Yeah that undulating you're feeling it the shocks not doing their job — the MOPAR FOX shocks are valved too soft for non-stock rigs. I love the springs, though. Upgrading shocks fixed my issues with it.
Just to close this out, I went with the MOPAR 2" lift. Then I swapped out the shocks for Teraflex Falcons at all four corners. And I installed 0.75" spring spacers under the rear springs. Rides like stock again, as if the weight weren't there!
I upgraded my Rubi with some Rugged Ridge rocker guards. But I fear those are more of an aesthetic upgrade than a true rock slider.
So, before I go bounce it off some rocks, I am on the hunt for true frame-mounted rock sliders. But, to my surprise, I haven't found a set designed for Gladiator...
I didn't measure it, I'm sorry. Like I said before, I am upgrading the MOPAR 2" FOX shocks to the TerraFlex Falcons. I haven't swapped them out yet, though.
Yeah, the valving in the kit shocks are better than the stock FOX shocks. However, they're still a little too squishy. Otherwise, I have been really impressed with the kit. But that's not too surprising, since it was developed by the Jeep team.
So after talking to a bunch of guys running 37s with lifts, I went with the MOPAR 2" lift. The rear shocks are still a bit soft under load. So I am going to swap out the FOX shocks from the lift kit with some Teraflex Falcon adjustable shocks. And I am going to add 0.75" spacers to the rear...
