I had a build all set with a manual but then they weren't taking any orders at the time I was needing a new vehicle (covid). I ended up buying one off the lot with an automatic since it had most the other options I wanted.

Had it happen twice, I know one of them was trying to open only to find frozen to cover, the other time I assumed the same.
I now carry a putty knife to slid between the top of the tailgate and cover to "unfreeze" it.
Sounds like same experiance for me, changed the damper and it didn't fix it, the changed it again and changed a bolt (not sure where, but they had it order it) and has been fine since.

I had mine in the dealer for my Death Wobble, which there replacing the steering damper didn't fix, but while it was in they did a recall for a misfiring issue.
Not that I had a problem with that (yet).
I mentioned it when the dealer did state inspection. They did nothing, but it wasn't too bad then. I has since got worst to undrivable when it happens until I slow down and it settles out.
Got an appointment tomorrow where they said they'll change the steering damper.
