Oh absolutely don't do this if you don't want to. It's a lot of work and I'm sure the pros do a better job.
That said, I'm really happy with the quality of the product; I'll be really surprised if it doesn't last a very long time.
His registered name will be Rubicon (my naming theme is California and it had to start with an R because the registry says so). His nickname is Jeep. He is for sale, if dressage horses with cute names are your thing.
I wanted to do an actual build thread but two things stopped me:
1. I didn't...
It took us about 20 hours. My bf is super mechanical but hadn't done upholstery before; I'm not mechanical but very strong.
Not having a very strong helper will suck. You're going to be doing headstands to get some of those hog rings in place.
But you totally can do it. Just allow yourself a...
Are they the wrinkliest thing you've seen today?
That said, leather stretches out after install, as you'd know if you'd ever done a leather install which you obviously haven't so we can forgive your ignorance.
If mine remains the same as day one it's still probably better than yours, I'd...
The baby bracket cups unclip from the bar that runs through them. Shine a light in there and you'll see.
You have to cut your own holes for them - you'll end up cutting a lot of your own holes. Have a good sharp box cutter and don't cut until the leather is in place.
The way these two clips are crossed is important. This is at both lower corners of the back side of both front seats. If you don't memorize it or take a picture you will not remember how it goes when it's time.
Pay attention to how many bolts or clips you're pulling out - not every hole had a...
I hope you have help. One very strong and mechanically inclined person might be able to do it but it'd be four times worse. This was our first upholstery and we got it done without any huge blunders but it's a big job.
Start with the 40 backseat, then the 60, then front passenger, then front...
So when you're putting the leather back on the headrests that have two long clips and two short ones one on each side, do the short sides first or you'll be there all day.
Ask me how I know.
As to colors, you can order whatever you want - they have some crazy custom choices including exotic leathers and every color you could want.
We bought on eBay and got the basic solid (non-perforated) black leather with red stitching. $550 + $80/shipping. We weren't looking for a fashion...
Ours has airbags on both sides, as I now know intimately after spending an entire day taking apart the passenger side seat. Can't speak to your truck though.

That's not what you'd call a build thread, more just me live-posting my confusion, but it's more info than I've found out there as far as Katzkins in our trucks goes.
We're going to do...
The leather is just so much better.
We debated getting the Rubicon embroidery but didn't. I don't have strong feelings either way but I'm happy with the almost final results.
The lighting is really bad right now. I'll do more pics later.
They are certainly not as smooth as professional/factory; everything I have read says to expect some improvement/smoothing over the next day or two. We're going to have a couple of cool, rainy days, so I won't expect improvement...
That's probably a pretty wise take-away message, unless money is super tight or you are either already experienced in upholstery (we're not) or passionate about becoming experienced in upholstery. There are currently no good videos or tutorials, so this was a whole weekend of us figuring it out...
