I'm running 35 11.5s with the manual. On road everything is fine except backing up even mild hills. If I had to back into a sloped driveway I'd strongly consider a re-gear. Highways, 6th gear is only for the super flats. 5th still pulls most highway hills around here (a few mountain passes...
My wife has an Audi A3 E-Tron that works very much the same way (albeit with an even shorter 18ish mile electric-only range). We love it for a city car and this would be basically perfect for how I use the Gladiator. Either we're doing things around town (Home Depot, trips to the dump, etc)...
Another vote in favor of both here. Brake warning has only alerted but never brakes for me yet and only in places it made sense.
Adaptive cruise is nice, but I actually wish it was harder to just use regular cruise. More than once I've thought I was in adaptive and slowly crept up on the car...
They're a flotation size - 35x11.5x17. 35 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide for a 17 inch wheel. Metric tires are measured a bit differently. The one you listed is 285mm wide, has an aspect ratio of 85 and is for a 17" wheel. The aspect ratio means that the two sidewalls are 85% of the width. These...
I compared the Mojave to another midsize truck. A Tacoma. That itself gets knocked in reviews for its truck-like handling compared to other midsize trucks. Where did I suggest it's a sports car?
As I said... Brake dive is "a thing" for all vehicles with suspension (last I checked, every model...
Totally just noticed you're about to make the same switch I did - TRD Pro (6spd?) to Mojave 6spd. I was torn between white/calvary blue for my Tacoma, went with white. Missed out on Punkin', was torn between Hydro and Silver for the Mojave. You have good taste, friend!
Brake dive is more about suspension geometry, spring and damping rates than the brakes... When I say brake dive I refer to the tendency for the nose of a vehicle to drop under heavy braking. Not something to do with the function of the brakes themselves. All cars do it. Some more than others...
Two test drives in Rubicons doing exactly those things. ~4000 miles now in my Mojave. ~20,000 miles in the Tacoma. Mixed use, probably 20% forest service roads, 2% trails, remainder city/highway.
Don't get me wrong. I've had a bunch of old Jeeps and 4x4 trucks that drove far worse and still...
No need for 35s, probably a good idea for 37s. The manual transmission is great. I suspect a lot of bad reviews are from early ones pre-TSB. I test drove one at a dealer before ordering mine, clutch felt like it had no return spring. Only after the test drive and my commenting on it did the...
My advice... Drive a Rubicon and a Mojave around town. On potholed roads. On the highway. Around some curvy roads.
The Mojave is waaaay better at all of these than the Rubicon. The Rubicon is woefully underdamped from the factory. Bobs around out back. Brake dives coming to a stop. Leaning into...
Has anyone ever determined the reason for the lower tow rating for the manual transmission?
This leads me to believe launching (in particular in reverse) is the deciding factor... Reverse is pretty tall for backing up my driveway.
Launch and acceleration performance on a level road and a 12...
Get the regular no cost ones. If you want the mopar step ones, they're iirc $950 (but go on sale, they were 15% off for labor day). Then sell your stock ones.
Only about 500 miles on them so far... But I can give some preliminary comparisons to other tires I've had (Lots of Duratracs, Grabber ATX, Original Goodyear MT Kevlar, Falcon MTs that came on my Gladiator):
Noise: They're quieter than everything but the Grabber ATX, but those were on a 66...
