:) Just goes to show how forgiving these gladiators are with the long wheelbase. Going up Hells Gate—You’re supposed to be high on passenger side but I certainly took it a little too high. Gladiator handled it well!
I don’t know. Are you sure the engine it has is the one with higher torque? The pentastar might be better on flats. My friend has the f150 4cyl and I couldn’t keep up with him in pulling out trailers which is the same size as mine in the mountains. And he had a full family with him. Anecdotal...
not the Tacoma. The ZR2 has a turbo charged engine which will be exceptionally better specifically at elevation. 310 and 430 lb ft torque on the Zr2 and the ranger 2.7 even has 310 lb-ft vs the gladiators 260.
Look, take your jeep up to 7500' - 10,000' on the regular and get back to me. I said nothing about RPMs. I am not afraid to go up in RPM's. I know its not a diesel--nice of you to make assumptions. We can agree to disagree but you are looking at this from a narrow lens.
Compared to other...
Lots of chatter on this. My hot take is that the gladiator is subpar for towing anything more than 3500lbs.
I have and still do tow a lot on mine across many states.
if you live in a flat state, you’ll probably be happy with the performance. Even better if you’re stock.
If you live at...
I know that Sinclair! I must be in your neck of the woods. I also pull a larger Travel Trailer. We go to Goblin Valley, Moab and Escalante a lot. As well as the Uintas.
love your jeep build plans. I have the Teraflex falcons and am very pleased with them. I’ve paired them with Clayton 3.5”...
Same here yesterday. steering has felt a bit grabby in the morning since winter started—which I just attributed to the hydrolic fluid getting in position, but yesterday morning in Moab it was cold—it didn’t feel like I lost power steering. As in, I should be able to steer when moving. It felt...
did anything end up coming from this? I have had the steering box already changed back in 2021 with the upgraded steering box. I noticed on some cold mornings in my driveway it’s a little bit stiff until I turn it to 10 or two and then it frees up. Driving a few minutes it basically goes away.
Don’t remember caster but your drop brackets may be helping by keeping them low. I’d imagine those would have a bigger impact than caster and wheelbase.
yes same offset as you. The control arms are installed correctly, bend going Inward. I’m aligned as well with steer smarts track bar. There is a clear place it rubs.
Have you flexed your suspension out? It might only be rubbing at flex. It’s on both sides.
I have AEV Savegre II which I believe is same offset as your borahs. My 12.5” wide 37s rub slightly on the front lower control arm. Not noticeable but you can see where tire hits it ever so slightly in flex/sharp turn.
Do your 13.5s not rub at all? Im also running Metalcloak CA’s
Good points. Hopefully we get the hurricane. I tow a trailer and the power output the gladiator has now is just embarrassing compared to the competition.
100%. If the gladiator is slated to get 4xe for 2025, why not just say it? They arent stupid. They completely omitted it from the announcement.
This leans towards discontinuation.
I’m glad I have my rubicon too. But the thing is, this jeep is still pretty bad ass. But we are severely underpowered when comparing to other mid class trucks. The ranger, Colorado, and the canyon have more HP and almost double the torque.
Lots of benefits going EV over gas. I’m a fan if the hybrid of batteries could be easily and cost effective to replace. I don’t want full EV, mainly for road trip. I can stop and get gas and be on my way vs stopping and waiting for 25’-35 minutes
