  1. Help! Buying a Travel Trailer and need help with weight/size of trailer to buy

Both trailers are more than likely too heavy for your Gladiator Overland. I own a 2020 Overland, and a 2021 Freedom Express 192RBS. Things to consider (some people have already pointed out some of the items): 1. is that 4700 pounds what the RV website says or is it actual dry weight of the...
  2. So, what is everybody towing?

Again, thanks for the info. I probably will upgrade the springs after Christmas. I will see what my local dealer charges to swap out the springs, and then decide if I want to tackle it myself (I got a good torque wrench, etc). Thanks,
  3. So, what is everybody towing?

Thanks for the Info. Did you swap out only the rear springs, or did you swap out the fronts also? I am ok with losing some of the (unloaded) rake by putting on max tow springs on the rear. I guess that is one of the reasons why Jeep put so much (unloaded) rake on the Overlands is because of...
  4. So, what is everybody towing?

Thanks! As I said earlier, the drive out wasn't that bad. It was kindof windy, but the truck seemed to handle the wind pretty well. I am towing only in Oklahoma. Oklahoma is flat. lol. I would never ever think about pulling that trailer with a Gladiator in mountains such as Colorado or...
  5. So, what is everybody towing?

Maiden voyage. Pulled it around 170 miles in a 20+ mph crosswind. Pulled decent. Trailer is probably around 4900 pounds. May look into stiffer springs (Overland are soft) and LT rated tires.
  6. WDH question and front vs rear sag

yeppers. my overland came with bridgestone All - terrain passenger tires (255/70R18 113T M+S). I may have to change my tires to something like the bridgestone all - terrain LT255/70R18 (D rated) tires.
  7. WDH question and front vs rear sag

Thanks for the reply - yeah, I need to get it out on the highway and pull it for atleast 30 miles before making any rash decisions. When I weighed yesterday, I was over GVWR more than I was comfortable with - I am currently at 13.5% tongue weight, so I think I can easily move things around and...
  8. WDH question and front vs rear sag

I know about a lite front end - years ago, I had a Jeep Liberty and towed a heavy tent trailer with it. the first time I towed it, I didn't have a WDH, and that front end drifted all over the place. After I got home from the first trip, I installed a WDH. It looks like with my Gladiator and...
  9. WDH question and front vs rear sag

Thank you for the reply. I forgot to state, my weight measurements put my tongue weight around 13.5%. Thus, I have some wiggle room to move weight around on the trailer and stay within the 10% rule. In fact, I probably wouldn't go less than 11% tongue weight :) my height measurements...
  10. WDH question and front vs rear sag

After several months waiting, we finally got our new RV delivered to us. I have a completely stock Overland (I know, worst trim level to tow with). In an effort to get things dialed in as best as possible (I am going to be over my GVWR - my truck, my responsibility), I have a few questions...
  11. Towing Camper without Max Tow

Yes, I have only owned one other RV, but from my experience, a WDH and sway control is required for any RV (unless you are towing a small trailer with a 1 ton truck, then it might not be needed). The first RV I had was a high-walled Fleetwood tent trailer, loaded probably around 3300. Even on...
  12. Auto JTR Towing capacity more than 7000lbs?

I looked at mine, and, atleast on mine, I figured out how they came up with the numbers. I have a Overland and my numbers from the Mopar website are: Max Payload: 1055 lb Max Towing: 6355 lb I know for the Overland (with tow package) the gvwr is 5800 lb. and the gcvwr is 11100 lb...
  13. New to towing, never towed in my life. Need help

You will get all kinds of opinions on this. Assuming you have tow package and a automatic transmission, then your tow capacity is 7000 pounds. There are other specifications to look at outside of tow capacity, such as GVWR, payload capacity, and GCVWR. There are other threads here that talk...
  14. Towing First Travel Trailer With Gladiator

and I was waiting to hear your tow experience with the JT Overland. Even with the Tundra, the advice above is good advice if you have never towed before. Research this forum or other forums on proper WDH installation - while I was RV shopping, I saw several rigs in the parking lots where the...
  15. Towing Camper without Max Tow

hmmm. in the last thread we discussed, I pointed out to you atleast 3 times in that thread that my tanks would basically be dry, and in that thread, I basically outlined how I added every thing up (no winch or other aftermarket upgrades/mods). Then you come on this thread and added back...
  16. Towing Camper without Max Tow

Wow, just wow!!! You attacked me in a different thread, and now in this thread. For atleast the 4th time, lets go over the facts again. You keep adding all kinds of mods to my JT, that I will NEVER consider adding to my JT. I will never add a winch, upgraded bumper, lift it, go bigger tires...
  17. 2020 Gladiator Towing (Overland)

This has gotten way out of control. I am sorry. Someone mentioned that there could be legal ramifications from towing over limits. That is correct, but every situation is different, with way more variables than just GVWR, GAWR, GCWR, Tow Rating, suspension rating, shock rating, tire speed...
  18. 2020 Gladiator Towing (Overland)

I agree that there are many, many factors involved with towing. Even environmental conditions (such as ambient air temperature) plays a huge factor. In fact, engine/system cooling was one of the obstacles that the Jeep engineers had to overcome to get the JT tow rating over 5000 pounds (if you...
  19. 2020 Gladiator Towing (Overland)

First off, the only heavy trailer I have ever towed was that tent trailer. There are lots of people here that have towed alot more than me. the first time I towed my tent trailer I didnt have a WDH. It was a white knuckle experience. It was the last time I pulled it without WDH and away...
