The Jeep tracked perfectly straight. The issue i had was there was no input to turn until the steering wheel was moved that far in each direction.
Driving on any type of switchback was very dangerous. I would go from turned almost half way one to completely the other way before it recognized...

Box is being replace again, as this is how the steering wheel looked on the way to the dealer for service. This is traveling straight.
Pretty crazy, luckily the dealer was understanding of the urgency and was able to get me in much sooner than the initial 2-3 weeks.
Interestingly enough there is a new issue. While driving to NY today the dead spot got much work and now have a "service electronic stability control" error.
Had mine replaced, and there was HUGE difference in the amount of play and wander in the wheel.
Unfortunately I feel like the new steel one is currently having the same issue. There are about 5k miles on the steel gear, and the play and dead spot in the wheel is actually worse than it was...
I had similar issues with a 2018 Grand Cherokee. After 3-4 trips to the dealer they could never find anything wrong. I would lose everything, speedometer, lights, power steering, pretty scary when driving down the road. Luckily things would sort themselves out after shutting everything off.

As a caution I did this upgrade. This morning we had a minor and by that less than 1/2" snow fall, and after a 3 mile drive home they housing was completely caked with snow. If you live in a climate with snow this option will not work in winter conditions.
