I would talk to the service advisor and let them know that they are supposed to submit it to jeep corporate and that the proper fix is to replace the panels. If they dont want to do that then i would look another dealer.

You can always have the dealer do a “we owe” for a basic bedliner. Most of them work with a local shop. You set the appointment and then pay out of pocket for the upgrade to the next level bedliner. ( usaully between 100-200 bucks) it will come with a lifetime warranty and it will be thicker...

If it is grayish/silver in color, then it could be anti seize compound. Hand cleaner may take it out quick and then a follow up with a good leather conditioner.
