Back in the 1980s, a friend bought a former ambulance (the type based on a car - might have been Buick)
The paint was horrible.
His plan was to use it for camping.
He went to a home supply store, bought some cheap paint on sale, rollers, and painted it a sort of brown color.
He then went out and bought several spray cans of clear spray. When it was done it really didn't look bad at all - from 20 feet. It had a shine and looked pretty smooth.
But up close - well, a couple of these pictures remind me of Barry's ambulance camper.

$10 dollar metal work absolutely free and tunnel baked :)

I came here to post that. :CWL:

I can't decide which is my favorite part: when he beats the shit out of the fender with a hammer, "smooths" it with a giant angle grinder, or sprays it 3" off the hood and right over the Buick badge. Honorable mention to the gratuitous cleavage shot.

Headed back to the same dealer on Wednesday. Jeep is also involved at this point. Both are saying they will make it right. I told the dealer and Jeep I want the parts replaced and not repaired. No one seemed to object. I'm definitely nervous about taking it to the same dealer though.

Check with user jebiruph (Jerry) here. Good fellow - and he's been through all of this - new doors and so on.
Maybe he has some tips since he's "been there".

Bleh mine goes back to the dealer body shop in June. New hood since the current hood repaint/corrosion fix has the bubbling coming back up. This time new hood and they need the jeep for two weeks to get the paint match correct. crossing my fingers.

Got me scared to take mine in now. Warranty work I know. Tailgate has bubbled like crazy. Really starting to notice the corrosion on all four doors hinge sets. Have not noticed any bubbling on the hood yet. I am just afraid it won’t look factory no matter what they do.
Plus metallic paint (snazzberry).
on the flip side. I wonder if i can talk them in to giving up the original doors would mind cutting them down to half doors.

A good shop can match snazzberry. I had some work done on mine when I dropped a door. 😬

Mine currently has bubbling everywhere. I wish it could go back to the same shop, but I have to roll the dice with the dealer.

What causes this? Northern winters? Bad luck on purchasing Jeeps with improper paint prep? Certain colors or years affected? Mine is 5.5 yrs old and I have zero issues like that. My paint is great actually. I’ve been over every inch of it detailing it very recently. 2020 Sting Gray.
