Power steering disaster

Just last week my power steering went out on my 2021 gladiator diesel... I pushed all fuses and relays tight and pushed tight the cables leading to the power sheering pump... Surprisingly the
power steering pump came alive. Not sure if it was the cables or the fuses/relays. The relay's were all loose and I know I've tightened them before.. My truck has 27K miles... looks like i will need to keep an eye on this.

Having what is seemingly a very similar issue with our 21 overland Diesel. First time, had a bunch of warning lights (had power steering still). They replaced a sensor, checked grounds, and charged the battery. They also mentioned the pin connections for the doors can get corroded and be the issue.

two weeks later and we lost all power steering, dash was showing ABS, ESC, Service Shift, airbag system, and flashed “No Bus” instead of mileage.

wondering if it’s the same power steering issue or an alternator issue, since the main battery needed charging after the first visit. Back to the dealer to hopefully figure it out.

certainly making me want to purchase an extended warranty

After narrowing down the 47 fault codes, it does appear to be something with the power steering pump. The dealer engaged Jeep/FCA - FCA is asking the tech to do a "wiggle test" to see if there are any loose wires or bad connections with the pump.

So very similar to what resolved the issue for Clark Kent. I'd be much more confident they are fixing it for the long-term, if they actually replaced something though... haha

Got the truck back after 3 weeks, with the final resolution being; replace the Power Steering pump. Good as new.

Based on this thread, I let them know my thoughts the first day it went in. When I picked it up, they said “we finally got there, but the forums were right - just had to go step-by-step cause of FCA and it being warranty work”

Sounds like this is what is happening with our 2020 fully optioned Gladiator Overland. Under warrantee and 21K miles. it is 20 months old I think) Had the sensors go crazy, wipers running, flashing lights overheat fan on full, stuck in first gear and every light on the dash flashing. Can turn it off and on and reset enough to drive for about a mile before reoccurring . Took to dealer 41 days ago and still cannot fix. (also no loaner which is getting old) They say they have replaced computers, sensors, relays and tested everything. I reported to them to check the power steering system and aux battery, based on comments from this forum. They say they are talking with " Detroit" to see what they say This is basically a new car, only mods are fog lights, brush bar and larger tires. Any thoughts? Seems like this is happening to lots of Jeeps, but not a single source of the problem which is concerning for a truck going off of warrantee. I am thinking of exercising our option for lemon or buy back if we cannot be convinced the issue is resolved. I could never afford this type of repair after warrantee is up.

Sounds like those mods might have done it in.

Final resolution after 70 plus days was the voltage irregularities originating in the power steering pump. Allot of out 70 days was waiting on parts. Truck still running well. Good luck!
