Power steering hissing noise

When turning the wheel, I sometimes hear a hissing noise. For people who have driven a forklift, it sounds similar to moving the forks slowly. The power steering fluid is full, and there are no visible leaks. It's a 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon completely stock.

It's normal. It's an electric pump, not belt driven by the engine.

Ive had the same hissing noise since day one. 96k later its never become an issue, so Ill add +1 to its normal.

Mine doesn’t hiss. It makes a… servo noise? That squeaky whine? My buddy’s souns the same. Goes away if I don’t touch the wheel for a few seconds. Doesn’t change much when I use the wheel.

Yeah, a "squeaky whine" could also describe it. I was just worried that air was trapped or the power steering had a more serious problem. But from the sound of it, it seems like it's pretty normal.

Yup that hydro pump doing it’s thing. Strange noise but I’ve heard it on other e-hydro cars.
