Greetings!

Well, I heard a couple weeks ago about the recall issue with power steering. Today, the Glad just shut down. Dash said service power steering, engine light on, had it towed, dead in the water. 3 weeks ago, the autostart failed, which I was happy about. No more pushing the button. Today, dealer said codes on power steering module, and I mentioned the recall. They said if it’s tied in, then the diagnostics (200 bucks) would be covered. I have my thoughts.

I’m not a fan of the dealerships. I am really not a fan of the electronics, which I suspect is the issue. Worse yet, I’m not a mechanic, or an IT engineer, so I’m kind of screwed here.

123,000 miles, 2021, and pretty awesome. just brakes, universal, changing fluids. Been a good ship.

Thoughts??

Update

Well, now the dealership said they have to replace the batteries. 1400 bucks. That’s just to see if something else is wrong. I asked if they could power it up to test that so we could see what else might be the issue. No…have to buy batteries first.

Having it towed to a trusted mechanic. Screwed for the diagnostics, which, ok. Twin City Tire will pop new batteries in…for…wait for it…half the cost of the dealership!! I’ll figure it out from there I suppose, and then deal with the recall.

Oh, and in all fairness, I do believe the batts are failing, 5 years old. But 1400 bucks????

Free install at a Walmart Car Service Center and a 4 year warranty. Delete that POS lawnmower battery underneath the main after you get home.

$617.00. My local jeep dealer here in Tennessee charged $617, including tax, to replace both batteries with their best Mopar. You are being ripped off.

Why would you put another auxiliary battery in, just delete it you don't use the auto stop start.

Aux delete and a trip to NAPA. It doesn't take a mech to figure out how to swap out a battery.

Autostart stop failing was a warning that your battery was likely on its last leg. And power issues cause all sorts or error codes to pop up. Document the codes, replace the batteries, clear codes and see if you have any issues still.
