Has anyone heard of this, due to the heated element failure?

I have to turn mine off once in a while - it gets plenty hot. I don't recall my wife's GC getting that hot. But then I don't really have a frame of reference - what's normal? Rarely driver her GC and haven't driven it since I got the JT.
I think they could tone it back a bit - not a complaint but an observation having read these posts. Yeah, it's plenty hot and I could see them failing after a while. Too hot? Dunno. What's it SUPPOSED to do?

First time heated steering wheel owner. It gets hot. That's what it's supposed to do. When it gets too hot, I turn it off.

Do you have a TSB or a link to where you seen a recall or are you asking if there is a recall?

It could be a limited recall based on a defective batch of parts used in production.

It could also just be what the dealer said after replacing it under warranty with no explanation for why it failed.

Not turning off would likely be more of an issue with the switch or electronics, rather than the heater itself.

Is it supposed to turn off on it's own? Or are we talking regulate itself?

I have not but mine gets HOT as shit and has to be shut off most of the time.
Mine does too.

And someone should post a link to this tread in the other thread about "I wish we could change the temperature threshold for auto comfort controls to kick on". This is why Jeep will only let that stuff automatically come on at temps below 40F.
