Has anyone else noticed that their steering wheel sticky feel and started to peel? This is the 3rd mopar vehicle I have had and each has had this issue. Each was a leather steering wheel. I don’t think it is from a chemical solvent or anything. Looking for input.

Same happening to me. Cleaned with mild soap and water and applied several coats of kiwi leather conditioning oil (for shoes). Wheel looks great now.

Seems simple enough. Any issues with the polish coming off on your hands?

Ah just some leather conditioner. I have some for my motorcycle jackets. I’ll try that tonight.

you using some kind of lotion on your hands, or work with chemicals / construction materials? When I did masonry 20 years ago the lime in the mortar would literally eat away a leather wrapped steering wheel in no time.

That being said I've had 3 Ram's, 3 Wranglers and a JT, all with leather wrapped wheels, and none have had issues with their leather wheels.

No, I rarely use hand sanitizer because of that. I’m might of had gas on my hands after getting gas or something.
For me it happened on my 08’ ram and 14’ grand Cherokee. I had the steering wheel replaced under warranty for the ram though.

My steering wheel has gotten sticky. My AC knob has gotten sticky. My volume knob has gotten sticky. And My shifter has gotten sticky. Amorall interior cleaners have always taken care of removing the donut glaze that I’ve left with my fingers.

Hate to be THAT GUY who says it but maybe we should be washing our hands a little more often?

Before I retired (heavy civil construction, I was touching all sorts of stuff) I had a problem like this with my then-new '14 GMC 2500HD Denali wheel.

No worries. That was my first impression/ thought too but, it’s actually worse after washing my hands. I thought it actually might be my water at work or my house might be too soft or something. I’ve gotten into my truck waving work and I usually wash up before I leave and that’s when I notice it more. I don’t know if it’s a factor of things like residue on my hands from something, the truck just sitting in the sun all day, or some other variable. I just wanted to check to see if I’m the dirty guy or if anyone else was in my boat too.

I honestly don't think the leather on my Denali was as good as the leather on my purchased-new '08 Chevy 3500 dually nor on the Gladiator. But I bought the Denali used with about 45,000 miles so no telling what the wheel had been subjected to. I washed the stickiness off as best I could and then just treated it with old fashioned Armorall. It improved it a lot but was never like new.
