Ask 5 people andyou’ll get 5 different answers. Mine is a resounding yes. I had a JLUR on 37s and it’s was more manageable but still necessary.Anytime you go up in tire size that much, you should regear, at least in my opinion

488s with 37s on my Sport S, really glad I did. There are more reasons to regear than just "restoring pep". You're putting far less strain on every bit of the drivetrain by regearing, recouping your torque, shift points, etc...
Thats correct. Highways in South Florida will frustrate just about anyone. So I do drive aggressively. Theres a good and long reason behind that, wont get into. But, I drive primarily 75-80+ daily and a good amount of heavy throttle use. went from 37s and 373s Sport S to 37s and 488s with those...
I have an auto. But I also drive aggressively. Had a driven like a normal person, I could see 15-17 with stock 373s.
You can live in whatever fairytale you choose but Id like for people who are looking for real advice to know when you go up in tires size, especially to 37+, regearing SHOULD be...
Nope, exact same gearing/engineering. Trust me, 37s with a JL/JT needs 488s. Sure, 373 or 410 is manageable and you're not going to ruin anything, but for those who made the change, they're ecstatic just like I am. Returns everything to stock if not better. My JT used to hold 2nd gear a lot, now...
Just tossed in 488s, with 37s it'll be close to a rubicon gearing with factory tires. Its perfect if you like highway driving and even better if you do a mix like I do.
Uh, I just regeared to 488s and Ill tell you this... Before, I thought 373s were fine with 37s, boy was I wrong. I thought it drove great before the regear and now its MUCH MUCH MUCH better. I also had a JLUR on 37s with the 410s, you should still regear. Period.
Over the years, there's been a ton of debate on gear break in. Here's the thing, do you break in your gears on your brand new truck? Probably not. Only one shop Ive got gears done at has suggested a fluid change at 500 and that was in my 05 LJR where I went really deep 5.38s which in those...
Mines going in Monday am for this same issue. Its a very loud resonance and yes, placing something the stretches the fabric helped tremendously, however Im not doing that permanately. It is very loud for a soft top, Ive had several. This is as loud as a bikini top on my LJR
Clean your fender really well, while they're still wet spray Carpro Reload liberally and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe off and enjoy. Redo every change of season.
There's a lot more to running these larger tires on the modern Jeeps compared to a TJ. Wheelbase, axle width, break over etc are all vastly different and the balljoint wearing faster isn't wrong, but if you're wheeling these things on 33s, you'll wear them out fast as well. Regearing is...
