    That was my problem. Bought a set of after-market door sill guards and the front leaked when washed or got rained on. I took them off and put clear vinyl sill guard on it, leaking stopped. It is also virtually invisible, you can't see them. Looks good and works.

    I unreel and lube mine twice a year. I use silicon lubricant on cable. Haven't had a problem yet.
