  1. Gladiator valuation.... Looked at trading

What you are not accounting for are tax, title, processing fees and registration. The last couple of years, timing has worked for the customer. But that is flipping as the market has and continues to change. Manufacturers are dealing with multiple issues and having to adjust. I don't think...
  2. Gladiator valuation.... Looked at trading

What I found out is that high end or high dollar vehicles are not in demand. I talked with three dealers, 1 dodge, 1 chevy, and 1 ford. All three of them are moving mid-level vehicles, $40K price point. The ford dealer has a 2023 F250 with Rocky Ridge modifications, I was not interested in...
  3. Gladiator valuation.... Looked at trading

I am/was thinking of trading in the 21 Gladiator Rubicon with 45,xxx miles. Some unfortunate realizations... - Received an initial offer of $33,000, they increased to $36,000. Fully maintained, no issues or heavy use, just higher milage. - Learned all Wranglers shipped to dealers will be...
  4. Sold my Gladiator today

Talked with a local dealership in PA last Tuesday. The dealership has all the 2023 marked $7,000 off sticker, includes rubicon and mojave. They are trying to dump all the 2023 and push in the 2024 obviously. But he did say that most 2024 wranglers were going to be hybrid as the government is...
  5. WARN VR EVO 10S SALE!! - Sale has Ended

The VR series winches are the made in china. Do you have any other deals on the Zeon 10S winch? Thanks.
  6. The "No Complaints" Thread

No complaints about the JT. But BIG complaint about the video advertisement popping up all the time, even on subsequent pages...
  7. Let's talk bushings! (in track bars anyway)

JJ are great for off-road or specific uses. As a daily driver they are not the best. Rebuilding them is easy, but takes a little time as you have to remove them from the vehicle, rebuild and replace. I have an 06 LJ that I do this with. The harder the durometer rating the more likely it...
  8. Come-Alongs?

As a kid I could not afford a winch so I carried a come along and a high lift jack. I used both to get me unstuck numerous times. You tend to work when using them but they never fail. You will need the same kit as a winch, but more of it. They don't have the reach as a winch with 100' of...
  9. Which clutch?

Sent a DM for a different application. Thanks.
  10. Winch line - synthetic vs cable

Not impossible to use. You had asked about longevity, if you leave the synthetic line and not clean it it will degrade over time. Same as with a cable, it will rust. You had mentioned this- "plus they spray that liquid de-icer salt garbage in my area" It is the same in PA and it does cause...
  11. Winch line - synthetic vs cable

Everything you said but the amount of energy stored. It has the same amount of "energy" as a metal cable. The difference is how it reacts when there is a break. Metal is not flexible, as you mentioned synthetic is. When a break occurs the metal has no way to absorb the shock and that is where...
  12. Want a retractable or roll up hard cover need suggestions

Going on 2 years with the x4s. I would not get it again. Expensive, cheap parts that break easily, does not work well in winter/cold, sections were unpainted when I received it. Roll it back down and watch your fingers, each section has pinch points. Takes up a little too much bed space at...
  13. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

Gearing will be the biggest issue, the portals I have have a final reduction of 6.0:1 so top speed is around 45mph. For me it is a trailer rig, but I did not buy or build it to be a DD. At the same time my 2006 LJ with Dana 44's and 5.13:1's is also a trailer rig. Both are registered and road...
  14. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

Yep, that is the one I have. Has the 4x4Grace sticker on the back. It was nice back then, not so nice when I picked it up. I machined for disk brakes and redid the steering.
  15. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

Clearance and out of harms way. If you look at the portal boxes, they can be used front or rear, parts are easily interchangeable. The HMMWV can be easily cannibalized on the battlefield. The HMMWV also had no "Park" on the transmission, the parking brake and wheel chock is always used...
  16. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

I would like to see what axle shaft and type of joingt is used to connect the differential to the portal hub. The pivot point looks like it may be a bit of challenge for any type of joint. Also like to see what is being used to mount the brake caliper.
  17. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

They are portal hubs set on an independent suspension. I broke several of them along with the sub-frame on deployments. The steering is extremely weak. The brakes are awesome, but set on the outer edges of the differential and not on the hubs where the tires mount.
  18. WHOA! Portal Axles for Gladiator look awesome

There were two in TN, one was orange and sold to someone out west a year or two ago. The other was solid white, it went through a couple of hands and ended up in PA with me. The LC was beat and trashed when I picked it up. I wheel it occasionallly. I changed out the old drum brakes to disk...
  19. Are You Thinking About Cashing in on an EV

It has not been "disproven" it has been discredited to support a green agenda. There is no actual "proof" from your scientist other than an effort to hide and discredit facts. I support technology and improving our surroundings, but the push for electric is an "at all cost" push, just look at...
  20. Single or Double Lockers

Great point and I would stop where you are and start looking for the second vehicle. You can find a decently modded vehicle with lockers front and rear for a decent price. Prices on vehicles are coming down.
