To help with squat (which was noticeable after cap, bedslide, RSE step/slide) I pulled our the AEV 2" spacer in the rear and replace with Clayton Offroad 2.5 Triple Rate coils.

Added Rock Slide Engineering step/slides a couple weeks back; my wife and kids were struggling to get in/out after 2" AEV lift. The weight on this was 225lbs... I haven't wheeled with them yet; hoping to go out to Uwharrie in a week or so.
Install was smooth. I bought an inductive heater for...
Yeah, after the topper + bedslide then RSE slide steps... squat was just too much. Last week I pulled the rear stock coil springs and AEV spacer and replaced with a springs from Clayton for a 2.5" lift which has fixed the squat and ride. Best upgrade to date. I'll post a profile picture soon.
Continuing to catch up... a few months after lift I received my cap & bedslide.
My wife was pushing for the topper and to be honest I really like it. So much room for cargo and it's protected from weather. My wife overpacks... yes the family is comfortably prepared to be away twice as...
It was rated "medium" or blue... not easy but certainly not hard. Hitch guard critical for the JT. Definitely needed a spotter on several sections, scraped the armor underneath (and that sounds worse than it is) but overall it was fine. The trick with #26 was I went the wrong way. I started...

Overall, install took twice as long as I planned.
Ride quality? Still good but since center of gravity is higher you can feel it. I expected this and installed heavier sway bar to help with...
Thanks @Gvsukids. Links helped. Lots of good information in there. Weight is good for tires but I'm over on payload. Even if I air-bag the rear I'm still a bit heavy.
I hate to start pulling stuff off; but will have to consider. Maybe I'll suggest that the family start a health diet tonight...
First, my question/concern... on full family trips I I'm overloaded and can "feel it" in the drive. A little more squish, more bounce, weight pushes rear down so front is a bit higher.
Here's the story
- Started with Mojave (curb weight 4,948 lbs)
- Adding 2" AEV lift to account for weight of...
Can anyone recommend a good garage in Raleigh area to help me with some modifications? I have some RSE Rock Sliders that I don't feel like messing with and looking for someone to install.
Thoughts?
Thanks, Eric
Thanks @Jaxmax, this is great. Did you use Item Curt # C31086? Did you do this yourself?
Also, can you share a "profile" picture? (if you have one) I'd like to see how far the hitch sticks out. From the picture here it doesn't appear that it would impact approach angle much.
Thanks, E
HA! no worries... no offense taken. I'm laughing because it's true. Many types of engineers and I'm the most useless after a collapse.
Yeah, there's a few fab shops and I didn't consider car specific ones... that's a great idea.
