I have been to Hot Springs. Did Snake in my 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk. It's not super easy but should be easier in the JT than the KL though I did have a rear locker not present in my Willys JT, just a TracLoc. I would recommend rocker protection before additional skid plates. The rocks were wet...
These were not Jeep Wave oil changes but prepaid changes from Jeep through the dealership. They say it’s tied to vin and only Jeep can transfer. I’d long since used Wave benefits the Cherokee had 85,000 miles.
@JeepCares I have a question regarding the program. I had prepaid oil changes through Jeep for my 2016 Cherokee Trailhawk that I traded in for a new 2021 JT. Dealer couldn't transfer these because Jeep controls them (mind you these were purchased, not free Wave changes). How can I have this...
So I can try and explain - using the pulley(Snatch Block henceforth SB) can double or triple your winches ability to pull by OFFLOADING some of the pull weight onto a fixed object.
For a simple pull lets say there is a full size truck weighs 10k lbs but is stuck in mud and you have a 10k winch...
I remember going to a drive in back in 83 or 84 and being last to leave except when I went to start the battery was dead. Luckily the projectionist was still there and jumped us.
Added some frame mounted recovery points by cutting out the lower face and getting longer bolts.
Not sure if the new pick looks much different, but at least I feel better about a front side recovery.
I just installed a JK aluminum bumper on my JT using the JK-JL adapter plate. It's about 1.5" thick with 2 plates - one drilled with round JL/JT holes and the other elongated JK holes. I matched JL holes to frame with included Grade 8 hardware and mounted JK bumper to JK plate with bumper Grade...
I happened on a local craigslist deal I couldn't pass up. A 2015 never installed Aries Trailchaser aluminum bumper for a JK for $250. Guy had apparently sold it a long time ago to a friend to put on his truck but I suspect his friend never paid so he finally dumped it.
Even with extra brush...
Our Willys got about 16-17 city new. At almost 5k miles and after a couple cross country trips it increased to 17-18 city and up to 22 hwy. The last trip had a bed rack and full payload weight but not towing. Empty highway I expect to be a little bit more.
I made it with a friend who had a Harbor Freight tubing bender. I drew up basic plans and we kind of winged it as we went, adjusting as we went. We got the angle right to follow the line on the back window. I ordered the interlocking cage connectors matching my tube size (1.25" OD but 1.5" is a...
I read on a boat building site that they will build a hull around steel or aluminum, they just factor in 1.5x thickness factor for aluminum vs steel. (exact alloy I don't recall). Aluminum was deemed strong enough just not as elastic as steel. I would rock an aluminum bumper and did for years on...
I cannot speak for the High Altitude model. I have the Willys Sport with 3.73 gears on 32s. Just finished 1700 miles to the mountains in Colorado from Texas. Truck rode comfortably at 70-75 on cruise without issues. Fully loaded with payload but not towing. Averaged 19-22mpg.
I was loaded up for camping. No trailer
Had the wife so too much gear but for kicks went to local CAT Scale. 5380 with gear and not 420lbs of passengers. Pretty darn close to the limit. I should have bought a Max Tow for more payload. Had a bed rack ~60lbs and cargo rails ~50lbs a full tank of...
I didn't get the Mopar Rails so used P-1000 Unistrut and 12 M6x25 bolts. Didn't insert nutserts to add 2 extra bolts. Was easy enough just using the 4 prethreaded holes per side. Seems plenty strong for my purposes. Most of my bed rack force is downward onto bedrails. Cargo rails mounting seems...
I seem to remember a discussion at my local Jeep shop about the electric lockers sensor being fooled by small metal particles from wear suspended in the gear oil shorting the sensor switch. I don't know if it is only the Mopar lockers or affects Eaton etc too.
