I ordered and purchased my 2021 JTRD in 2020. Picked it up right before Christmas.
The first thing I did was put on 35" tires and a winch. Later I did the Mopar 2" Lift, rear Hellwig Sway bar, Rear air suspension, upgraded fox shocks, and a few other suspension-steering mods.
I keep a record of...
This is what I have read. I too have waited till the changes to the replacement pump were known. I still have not heard but I was finding metal in the top of the pump and in the filter housing. California folks might not have a choice to wait long? They do add a sticker to the emissions sticker...
You cannot feel it with a pick or your fingernail. It is just visible. There is the same scoring on the rollers.
I am still trying to understand where the non-ferrous metal came from that I saw in my previous threads. It must be aluminum or stainless steel. But from what? Possibly the lift...
I thought I would share this with the group. Especially those that are trying to understand the failure of the High Pressure Fuel Pump (CP4).
Today I had the recall Z96 done and the HPFP replaced with the "new" style. I wish I could get another new one to tear apart and see the difference. But...
I just got mine done today. They said they could not find any metal in the system so only the pump was replaced. They would not tell me what they check, where they check, or anything about the procedure for finding contaminating metal in the fuel system. So as I was told by others, if it is...
Back in December 2022 I replaced my fuel filter. I noticed metal in the bottom of the filter housing. So I removed the volume metering solenoid on top of the HPFP to inspect for metal. It was in there also. Back then I had a great relationship with the service manager at a local dealership. I...
I have just turned 43k miles on my JTRD. Love the diesel. My son in law has the gasser and after 3 years of following me around wheeling and mountain passes, he wants a diesel. He tried to pull a small camp trailer and was always very slow traveling and climbing up hills made him sell the...
I have really enjoyed your travels and documentation. Did you contemplate using a JTRD removing the bed, and cutting the cab as you did with the wrangler? You would have gained much more livable space and could keep the weight forward.
I will continue to watch your build. Fascinating work!
I have a little over 42k miles on my BFG 35x12.5 E-Rated and am at a little less than 50%. They have been great! Except on this trip I blew a sidewall out on a sharp rock!! I put these 35's on right from the start on my JTRD.
It works well in the summer heat also. If it is hot and I know I have a steep grade ahead of me, I will kick on the high speed fan. It really slows down how quickly the oil temperature rises. It will also help drop the engine temps if it's already hot. I have never had my JTRD go into limp mode...
Yesterday, in Utah with my daughters and their Jeep's. The snow got deeper as we climbed in elevation. Just enough we were leaving "diff" trails in the snow. Perfect fluffy powder snow and a great day of wheeling! Dad still drives a truck.
Well Friday did not turn out how I expected. I had previously spoken with the service manager at my local dealership. I sent him pics of the metal in the CP4 when I removed the metering valve on top. He said they had a new HPFP in stock and they will replace it under warranty. Finding metal in...
