Actually, I was thrilled with the price that insurance quoted me to buy out the vehicle. As I mentioned before, my total cost of ownership was right around $5,000, which is pretty cheap for two years of ownership and almost 48,000 miles. I'd have taken a much steeper depreciation hit with just...
A quick follow-up on this thread.
Long story short: the vehicle is being totaled by the insurance company. The frame has a large compound bend behind the front cross member, which necessitates a full frame replacement (the body shop said that it could be repaired, in theory, but they felt that...
Body shop just called. Turns out that the frame has a compound bend behind the front driver's side cross member.
So, now we get to see how long it'll take to get a new frame ...
Thanks. I had a feeling that this would involve a frame straightening. Given that this is body-on-frame, I'm hoping that this won't have a deleterious effect on the vehicle's reliability.

I have that exact concern. And I have no intention of taking this repair on myself ... I was just curious to learn a bit more about how these front ends are put together.

Yesterday a woman at an intersection decided that "red light" meant "proceed into the intersection and turn left." I was (lawfully) in the intersection at the time, and she hit my front bumper.
The bumper is pretty bent, and I'm absolutely certain that it and all of the plastic and such will...
Hey guys, I've been looking to replace my stock air filter on my 2021 Gladiator diesel. Nobody seems to have a cross-reference for this air filter for any of the major brands (Fram, Purolator, etc.), but I imagine that it's out there and just hasn't tricked into the parts databases yet.

My success story is a bit different, but same idea.
I had a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 that was pretty loaded (including the 6.2 V8). Last June I had about 80,000 miles on the truck. It was very clean, no accidents, etc.
I took my wife's 2017 JK in for an oil change and was chatting with one of the...
Since you asked ...
... I think oversized tires look stupid. I respect the 1% of the population that actually uses their truck for off-roading and that needs the benefits that larger tires confer. But the vast majority of people are trying to look like something they're not—we call them...
... and it's working again. Came out to the truck this morning and it was like nothing had ever happened to the backup camera. Bombed around all day in it and the reverse camera worked perfectly every time.
Fingers crossed that this was an over-the-air software upgrade. If it was, I really wish...
This.
Unless someone is paying me to advertise, I don't put stickers on anything. No aftermarket parts stickers, no NRA / Ducks Unlimited stickers, and for damn sure no political stickers.

This thread reminds me of why I don't live in Calgary anymore. Listening to my engine gnashing itself to death in those temperatures just ain't fun.
That said, I do miss driving up the Icefields Parkway.
(And when it's 42 celsius and 100% humidity here, I admit that I have moments of missing...
Same problem here (2021 Gladiator Rubicon). Backup camera worked fine all day today, until it didn't. When I put it in reverse now, it shows the magnifying glass and "check entire surrounds". The verbiage disappears after a few seconds. All the while the screen remains black.
Here's a few...
Hi everyone,
My JT Rubicon came with factory Mopar rocker rails, but I've swapped them out for running boards. I have the original factory nuts and bolts for these as well (eight nuts and four bolts per rocker).
These rockers have less than 500 miles of wear on them. I took delivery of the...
My sentiments exactly. 95% of the criminals are looking for an easy hit, and it'll make my truck just hard enough for them to move on.
Now, I just need to find somewhere to put it where it won't roll around and rattle ...

Hey guys, I know this is a stupid question ... but did Jeep come up with some crafty place for me to store the wheel lock key, or does everyone just toss them in the glove box / center console?
I ask because I don't like having it rattle around and would prefer to have some clever little spot...
OP's original math is pretty good, but I think it leaves out another key detail: resale value.
My guess is that, all other things equal, the diesel JT's will have higher resale value than the gas version. Opinions will vary, of course, but in the truck world that has certainly been the case...
