My JT Max Tow towed my 6k Airstream over 10k miles so far. Through the Adirondack and southern Utah. I wouldn’t worry about your 8 miles trip on flat grounds.
You are missing one critical component here: efficiency. If your weight is 50% more but efficiency is 4x (ICE have around 20% efficiency, EVs have around 80% efficiency) then the EV consumes only 37.5% of the energy of the lighter but equivalent ICE vehicle...
Take a look at the brand new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Trailhunter trim levels. That’s exactly what Toyota is doing and what the upcoming 4xe Gladiator will compete with.
Interesting. First time I hear about this. Anybody know how much extra support this provides and if that can be retrofitted onto earlier max tows or probably any other gladiator?
The Airstream dealership also screwed up the install of the WDH. They are a multi-brand place and measured to the top of the frame which was 2” too high. Our initial shakedown trip to a local campground was real bad. Being a towing noob it took me a while to figure that out but once I got that...
My 2021 JT Sport S Max Tow pulls a 2022 Airstream International 23FB queen (5,000# dry, 6,000# GVWR). I’ve pulled it for about 6,000 miles so far (TX, NM, AZ, UT, CO). Redarc brake controller and e2 Fastway WDH.
I have a 2021 Sport S with Max Tow package and never removed the doors yet. I just noticed driver’s side door has a little metal bar holding the cable harness. However the passenger side doesn’t have that bar but has holes for it. Is that just on my truck or they all all made that way?
I think people are missing some important context. TFL Truck broke down volume by segment in this video showing the whole mid size truck segment doing terrible in 2023. Included the screenshot for your convenience.
Mind you the Gladiator is not doing great even against the segment but it’s doing...
How about the middle seat belt? Is that one fine? If this was intentional you would think they would have cut that one too.
Other avenue of investigation would be rats or other rodents although it’s unclear how they could have made it there.
My 2021 Max Tow has been absolutely trouble free … after they replaced the PCM, the cats, and the engine within the first month of ownership. Almost 24k miles on it 6k of which have been towing our 6,000lb 23ft Airstream travel trailer.
For some reason I really prefer towing with these Wrangler 392 33s m/t takeoffs over my stock 31s. Looks like the chipmunks here in Angel Fire, NM approve!
Yes, I do have the Max Tow package. You definitely need a good weight distribution hitch and a trailer brake controller. My local Airstream dealer messed up the WDH install and it was horrific. Make sure to setup the WDH with load in the truck similar to what you expect to tow with. Once that...
