There are 7-9 midsize entrants depending on what you include. 7% isnāt dominant but itās perfectly respectable given the Gladiatorās pricing. Itās the same market share the Toyota Tundra has and that truck has lasted for decades.
Thank you. Iāve been running with this issue in my Mojave for a bit haha. I assume this was a warranty repair for you but did you happen to see what the nominal repair cost was?
Never? At what speed?
I drive a tractor sometimes. It has 16 available gear ratios. I never use sixteenth. Should I regear the tractor?
I understand certain combination of tires and use cases benefiting from regearing. But regearing is expensive and introduces a lot of potential complications...
I have 100k on mine, with a manual on 35s. Gearing is fine. More power would be nice.
For whatever reason a vocal subset of this forum obsesses with being in eighth gear at some arbitrary speed. I spend very little of my driving in first gear and thatās fine, the transmission has multiple gears...
I disagree about corrosion being an issue in Florida. Maybe more so than Arizona or Nevada but much less versus any state that salts their roads in winter. The main corrosion risk imho would be taking the jeep to the beach and getting actual saltwater or salt spray on it and not washing it off...
Appreciate the comments above from multiple perspectives. I put 30k miles on my Jeep per year and would love to lower my fuel cost, but while I take many short trips i also drive ~100 miles a couple times per week, and 13mpg for those trips wonāt work.
Iām off the pavement every day, and I use...
I think he has a typo on the date that heās posted multiple times. It frankly makes this whole saga enormously more difficult to follow as a direct reading of what he posted would mean the jeep is still under warranty.
All I can say to the OP is 1) props on getting a manual; 2) it sounds like...
@steelponycowboy can you link me to the reliability article youāve posted an excerpt from a few times? I may have missed the link in an earlier post, so apologies. Iād like to try to look more closely at a few of the claims made.
@ShadowsPapa I think the new ātransmissionā (which really seems...
People will attack with threats of insurance being voided and arrests by DOT. They wonāt be able to cite any documented examples, but they know theyāre out there :)
Obviously if doing this work daily a bigger truck would make sense, but as a fellow Mojave driver typing this with a trailer...
Agreed. Itās too bad that some people associate the suspension working as intended as a failure point.
That said, good advice re: bumper options. One advantage of OEM steel is aesthetics. A lot of cheaper aftermarket bumpers have a very āmoddedā look which isnāt objectively better or worse but...
Ram 1500 upgrade used to be even cheaper than that. Under $2k I believe.
It's just challenging when they priced the 6.4 at tens of thousands of dollars more than the 3.6. Others have said on this forum that the 6.4 isn't some boutique racing engine, it's was a similarly cheap upgrade on the...
Just skimmed the first page. Some of these ideas are vanishingly unlikely (5.7l + manual), impossible (diesel returns), or are in "two potential buyers actually care" category (power steering pump).
If my goal is to move product and make money I'd do, in order:
1) Lower pricing, enough with...
I don't understand the halo idea at all. The Wrangler moves 150k-200k units. It's sold by Stellantis, which fights Kia and Mitsubishi for it's place in the vehicle brand equity hierarchy. The idea that it can suddenly be priced next to a Range Rover and a G-Class and sell in anything like...
Surprisingly wholesome thread.
Experiences on this forum ran the gamut. I'm envious of many and a little worried about a few. Many his-and-hers-Jeeps stories which are cute. A few "went to buy a base Sport but she loved the 392" stories where I sure hope the initial choice was well below their...
Good thread. Agree with your sensibilities - getting a better bumper on Mojave without ruining the look or the ride or requiring removing Mojave parts is tough.
Sport S Max Tow is a great option.
Have you driven any other Gladiators though? Of course minds can differ, but Mojave has an excellent suspension setup IMHO. I'm a bit worried with the 1500 as your baseline you might be disappointed in the ride quality of a more off-road focused vehicle...
Hoping the $30k comment is satire. A Maverick is a $30k truck now and Ford sells plenty of them.
This was extensively discussed on here years ago before things shifted to "electrify everything." The 5.7 and 6.4 costs were all over the place based on the relative demand and competitiveness of...
