Great questions! The top bars are an add-on, you will be able to select if you want them or not. They are great for RTT's and other type of accessories but not everyone needs them so we allow customers to choose! Thank you

It's actually our C-Shape bases that won't allow the cover to open at all in the MOAB series, in the Shiprock as described here is because of the angles in the main cross bars! You might open it a bit but you won't be able to fold it all the way back sadly! Thank you

Actually our system does work with hard trifold covers such as the MOPAR, BAKFlip, and Rough Country. The downside is that you won't be able to open it and close it. A lot of people like it as it makes their bed more secure but we like to mention it to avoid any surprises! Here is how it looks...
