i found an excuse to drive to the store today in the snow. For fun, I pulled the parking brake and turned the wheel to get her to fishtail a bit. Going maybe 10 mph. Wide open area no other cars pedestrians etc. 2wd high. She fishtailed a little. The ādā started flashing and told me to...
I had my right side intake camshaft (and rockers) replaced under warranty by the dealer in July. The jeep was in the shop for a week. I guess I got lucky.
āI love it, but it is a POS, donāt buy oneā is what I tell people. I can put up with all of the ā itās a Jeep thingā idiosyncrasies but an unreliable powertrain is completely unacceptable. And these things are not reliable vehicles.
I can commiserate. My 21 had the passenger intake cam and all the associated rockers replaced at 29k. Due to a misfire issue. Now at 33. I still have 2 years and 27k on the powertrain warranty so Iām just gonna drive mine and take it when the check engine light comes in again. I have heard...
Get rid of everything in the lineup that doesnāt have a solid front and rear axle, bring back the xj if you want to keep the Cherokee. Make em all as reliable as a hilux or Land Cruiser.
But thatās not whatās going to happen. Instead they will continue marching down the road of making Kiaās...
I had an outback a few vehicles ago. That thing was a beast and I beat the crap out of it. I drove it off road all over Texasā¦no issuesā¦.it got me out of several sticky situations with mud, snow, and sleet. I even towed with it. I never took it rock crawling or anything, but I thought the AWD...
Randomlyā¦at some mileage between 0 and 75,000, The battery housing will develop a crack, and you will be able to hear an audible ātickā at it expands and contracts. Of course, by this time, all the other manufacturers will have perfected the EV battery, but not Jeep. Theirs will tick. And cost...
I did 3k initial and 15% to 20% on the oil life calculator (typically 7k ish)ā¦all done by the dealer with the spec oilā¦
and I got the tick. ā21 3.6.
passenger side intake camshaft and rockers replaced at 30k under warranty.
not sure if more frequent changes or different oil would have...
Update number 3.
picked up the gladiator today. They replaced the passenger side intake rockers and camshaft. This is a 2021 (ordered in August, built in October) with just under 30k on the odometer.
I donāt really know what to do with it now. I guess I still have about half of the powertrain...
Trueā¦I havenāt made up my mind yet. I just wonder what the long term effect of the valve train eating itself is on engine longevity. I typically put 150k miles on a vehicle over 10 years before looking for a new one.
Iām kind of in your shoes now. My ā21 max tow is at 30k and at the dealer for a single cylinder misfireā¦I am suspecting itās the rocker but I dont know that yetā¦if they have to do open heart surgery on it the next dealer it may see is a Toyota dealerā¦I love the thing but what I need most out of...
