Why yes-it was a Tacoma 2020 OR LB auto and I hated it. Traded for the rubicon 6 speed and am now much, much happier. I drive this in a place with lots of steep streets and traffic jams and I still love it. Makes me smile every time I drive it.
Gotta correct some on my rubicon wheel to make it go straight. That’s the extent of my experience. Somehow it doesn’t bother me. Though I understand how it could.
I used those stoves for years and they were always a pain the ass. If I’m camping near my car or boat I now use propane or even backpacking stoves. I still have one liquid fuel stove for cold weather backcountry use but it ain’t the old green monster.
I hate the look of the red dash in pictures but am finding it mellower in person. Still too much though. Would like to have a grey dash on my gray truck.
I think the Willy models look pretty cool especially with the Firestone MT tires. If I didn’t need a diff lock, I would have gone this route instead of the overdone-looking rubicon.
I’m irritable, and generally picky about weird things. Somehow my brand new gladiator mostly just makes me smile! But those giant key fobs could create a bunch in the pants for sure.
Less expensive, can pitch them in more places, don’t weigh much, no cluttering up and weighing down my rig the 99.99% of the time I’m not using tent. But most important—they weren’t really a thing during most of the 50 years I’ve been camping. Gimme a manual transmission and a normal tent...
I’ve learned this lesson the hard way and the pleasant way, often while hunting in mud and snow. I’m more likely to get stuck without lockers. Rough boat launches, snowy BLM trails, clay goo with a cliff beside you, all have made me glad for a locker. I’ve shot one elk I would have never come...
This Rubbermaid cooler is by far the best cooler I’ve ever owned for regular cooler kinds of duties. It’s kept ice on hot 4 day river floats as well as doing well on lots of camping, hunting and fishing jobs. It stood up to frequent abuse and neglect. It’s lightweight. Doesn’t need to be...
From everything I’ve read and videos I’ve watched, a bronco in the right trim/package seems like a killer rig. I think the two doors look great too (but not the 4 door). I love my brand new gladiator and the fact that it can haul and tow better than the bronco. But if I didn’t care about that...
I’ve found the better igloos and such to do better at keeping things cold for longer than my expensive grizzly and yeti coolers. I use the spendy ones only when I need bear protection. Really, the several-hundred-dollar cooler racket is crazy unless you have some really specialized needs.
The auto transmission on the taco is awful. The truck itself drives huge and clumsy compared to the gladiator. Super slow steering which will eventually irritate you. I was also scared to drag it’s belly on the rocks which I really needed to do at one point. Plastic gas tank skid and all.
Also if you’re a manual person as I am, best to just keep going with that just like you did. I bought a 2020 Tacoma OR LB, which only came in auto. First auto I ever bought, and I’ve owned a bunch of vehicles. Huge mistake and a waste of some money. It’s gone now and I love the manual...
I just bought a manual rubicon model and my initial reaction is that the gearing is great. In daily driving it’s more like a 4 speed than a 6 speed, which I’m fine with. It should work nicely in 4L in the backcountry all day long with all of that gear spacing. Clutch is fine too. I had...
