I experienced the same. Felt easier pulling 6500lbs (u-haul car trailer + loaded up Subaru Forester) than to pull my 3600lb Jayco Baja. My simplistic brain computes the air flow moving over the top of my jeep hits the trailer vice continuing to flow over the car trailer.

I rented a car transport from Uhaul in San Diego as well as cargo trailers in Washington state. I would go to another U-haul dealer.

I pulled 6500lbs. from San Diego to Washington State. I kept the speed at 62mph. The 3.6 got 14 mpg. The squat was obvious but she drove straight and I never felt uncomfortable. I don't care to go 7650 in my max tow though.
