Has anyone on here had to have the lsd rebuilt in a Gladiator Sport w/max tow package? I have a 21 Sport max tow and I am having trouble with my rear limited slip differential.. Jeep has 70k miles and the rear end is howling and making terrible noise when turning at slow speeds. Just wanted to see if anyone on here has experienced this issue, and what was the fix?

Do you tow often?
Have you ever replaced the Differential fluid?
I never did with my Overland with LSD. I traded it in at 57k miles with no apparent issues. The dealer recommended it at one of the oil changes, but I declined because I was going to do it when I installed the new Dana Differential covers.

I don’t tow with the truck, just mainly running up and down the interstate. I have not changed the diff fluid. Dealer did recommend that I have it done at an oil change but I declined and put it off. I did have the leak on the right rear axle seal when the jeep had about 10k miles on it. Dealer fixed it under warranty and I kept it moving. I suspect that the fluid I lost with that axle leak was never topped back off after the axle was replaced and I have run the differential fluid so long that I have burned the lsd differential up. Gotta service the differential and get new fluid in it and see if that helps.

I would change the fluid and add the lsd additive first. Just to see if that will help because it might save you some money.

My other thought is that you have a bearing that is bad.

I was thinking the same about changing the fluid and adding the friction modifier and see if that helps any. If not.. gotta go the the shop. Jeep runs smooth straight down the road but when I am turning at low speeds she howls..

Definitely top off the diffential oil. Wheel bearings also have a tendency to howl very loudly when going bad. If you haven't already, lift up the back end, safely place it on jack stands. Run the engine while having someone listen to each wheel and the diffential. Using a stethoscope can be very helpful with this.

Appreciate the feedback. I definitely have something going on with the rear axle. Once I find out what’s causing the issue I will update you guys.

I'm having a similar issue. I have a Max Tow with LSD, 22 model with 45k miles. Started noticing at low speeds and turning tightly that I would hear what I describe as a "seal barking" or "yelping" sound. I changed the diff fluid with a synthetic Valvoline gear oil that said it included a friction modifier and the sound went away for a few days, but is now back. I'd be interested to know what you find out!

Add friction modifier. Preferably from the Jeep dealer. Do several figure 8s after to get the fluid working through the clutches.

The gear lube that already contains additive is often not enough.

I added the mopar friction modifier last night and drove it afterwards and even this morning. Quiet as can be. Thanks for recommending this.

Wish I had noticed this thread sooner. 21 Max tow. At 40k started getting a noise only In slow turns. Thought it was the new tires. Sound got progressively worse. Still the sound appears to be front of the truck.
Took to the dealer at 45k. They had me drive with a tech. He initially thought front end issue as well. He hopped out the truck and I did a slow turn in front of him. He said it sounds like the rear.
Took inside and used stethoscope to determine it was coming from the left rear.
It was the rear axle. So, they ordered and replaced a week or so later. On the test drive, the tech heard a different sound that was being masked by the axle noise. Added friction modifier to the rear differential. No issues now.
All was covered by the warranty so even better because they did give me a rental.
I towed about 7500 miles last year and probably 12k total. I know OP said no towing. Just a data point.
