Hi Kev...nice Gladiator.
Id go looking for a big winch sooner rather than later, the Gladiator needs it with 2" + 34 tyres (i say that from experience)...nothing under 12,000lbs. Ive got an offroad animal bar with a big warn winch on mine.
Just so im l reading you correct, your claim is that a JT Gladiator is capable of 900km on single approx 70litre tank of fuel?
Given ive had 3 new Pentastar engines in this car and not a single one of then is capable of more than 500-550km, where to achieve 550km id suggest i would have to...
Thats funny because 100%, our RAM 1500 v8 gets consistently better fuel economy than my Gladiator does.
I recently took the RAM on the same trip ive done a nunber of times in the Jeep (Melbourne to Sydney return)
The motorway is 110km/hr speed limit pretty much the entire distance of 900km...
Not if the hemi is also in the jeep it wont.
Another issue with the pentastar v6...if you end up in a really decent sticky bog hole, the pentastar hasnt got the torque to get going through it...so perish the thought of coming to a stop in the middle of one. That isnt an issue with the v8 (or a...
Firstly,
The v8 hemis are less complex than the pentastar. Its using a pushrod platform that has been around for decades and is well proven.
Second, have you ever tried towing 4.5 ton with a 1.8 litre engine? Horespower has nothing to do with towing capacity... engine torque has everything to...
Yeah but it seems to me that all this environmental hype that appears to have been the downfall of v8's is bollocks.
I also read that mercedes are quite likely to bring back the v8's into some of their AMG stuff because of a large drop in sales due to not using it in recent vehicle production...
Hopefully this will be the last update in this woeful saga...i have finally got my Jeep back after its second new engine was installed approx 700km after the first jew engine install was messed up.
Its break in will be a 1800km interstate round trip from Melbourne to Sydney on Tuesday.
It...
Id suggest the moral of the story is that no matter what, before undertaking a long trip (any trip), check your car over including under the bonnet...especially if a Jeep mechanic has been anywhere near it!
The dealership he was employed by have gone broke and closed down anyway so there is at least some karma there.
When i reflect on his abilities...if a mechanic cannot tell the difference between grease and diff oil when diagnosing a front rhs leaking axle seal, he wrote it was a split CV boot...
Guys, I have an update...
Before we get into the comical part of this update..., i thought i take a photo of my broken down Jeep stuck at the dealership, parked alongside her new "better half" (which has already taken over the Jeep parking spot at home)
The short version - a brand new engine...
Why would they (stellantis) do that when they already have the Dodge RAm?
Jeep needs to stick to its own heritage...its patrons dont want road cars, they want weaponised rugged offroad animal 4wds! You dont buy wranglers and gladiators because they are cars!
Personally i think whats killing...
There are a couple not far away...a nltable one is Harrop Engineering who are only about 30mins drive away. They are an Eaton superchargers specialist i believe and have been in the performance industry both in Aus and the US for years. We also have The Horsepower Factory close by as well...
Warranty work would be thrown out the window obviously...but to be honest, given what ive been through what have i got to lose exactly, another 6 months over 2 years in workshops? Its already cost me thousands in lost income anyway during those 6 months waiting on parts in Jeep workshops (like...
Im not sure i havent closely compared all of them side by side...ive seena RAM 2500 near a 1500... it seems a lot bigger to me. Higher, mirror mounts and mirrors are much larger, trays/tubs longer...
One thing about the length difference, the long tub version of the 1500 here is the bighorn...
What i dont inderstand is why so many modern petrol engines with forced induction are replacing v8s due to environmental regulations...4 and 6 cylinder engines that are putting out considerable horespower, and yet people are wanting to swap out the v6 for a v8 for seems to be performance...
I think our main options for 4500kg towing are F150, Chevy silverado, and RAM...the Rams are quite popular. Obvi9usly the 2500's are better, but they are about $30k AUD more expensive and quite a bit bigger.
You won't believe it...
After being rejected initially and in a moment of frustration an hour later, I sent the sales manager at ram a photo of my jeep saying..."here's a photo of my Gladiator you won't trade in"
I literally got a phone call eaxctly 1 minute later saying "oh I can trade that...
Omfg...
I have a change in my businees in that i need a new work vehicle with a 4.5 ton towing capacity...so the gladiator cant do that.
This morning i contacted my local RAM dealership querying the idea of trading my gladiator in on a new Dodge Ram 1500.
Because of the engine and trasmission...
