yeeeaaah, now I see. Sorry for the silly question, first-time Jeep owner here. I'm conditioned that newer vehicles have more/better engine compartment sealing, but that is definitely not the case here lol. Might need to setup a quick-access pressure washer system instead...
Installing various stuff on the new ride, I noticed the wheelwells all have significant openings to engine compartment (front) or under the bed (rear) as seen in the pics. It seems that the better these are sealed would be better for general durability, cleanliness, etc.. especially engine...

Just saw a friend's with the OEM bedliner sprayed in, all plugs were sprayed over. I'm thinking to spray them over as I have no plans do do anything with the openings and if I did, could always carefully remove the plugs by scribing the perimeter. But... now I'm still *maybe* going to...
