I’d play 4 ball joints at a time if everything else is checking out and nothing visually worn. The factory lowers I like to never got out of the knuckles. But when I did there was a significant difference in feel of them. The top felt like a normal ball joint but yet upper or lower seemed to...
Tell him to 100 % change his ball joints first and replace them with something high quality ! The Eco may have a little heavier ball joint from stock due to the added weight.
UPDATE !!! Guys I can’t thank all of y’all enough for all your help ! So I had a set of American Iron ball joint deletes on order. Replaced the factory ball joints and my death wobble is GONE !!! I can go back to enjoying my gladiator as I should once again and it’s such a relief. If anyone has...
What’s funny too is that the steer smarts yeti Xd sector shaft brace also came with a brand new 9/16” shouldered bolt. But didn’t change a thing, only showed the presence of the worn out bushing along with the 25 degree temp.
Another update !!
So today it got down to 25 degrees here in Ohio. I was able to have time to drive it a little bit and if death wobbled 3 times on me as it did before. Came home, had my wife hop in and move the steering for me as I watched again. Could hear a clunk and feel a clunk !! Even...
Ok so I just got home from a drive in places where it would normally death wobble. It is still there but I would say the steer smarts sector shaft brace has probably reduced the severity of the shake by 75%. It doesn’t allow it to get to the point of scare you to death wobble. It lasts only for...
True I understand that with warranty. I can tell you this, mine started at around 10,000 ish miles. When it does it...it feels like I suddenly have center blocks for tires ! The front wheels move back and forth 6-8” and will make you completely stop ! I can physically watch the steering box from...
First of all, I’m assuming you are a mechanic for a dealer from your story. Second of all, Thank you !! For being that type of mechanic that doesn’t want to give up and or bandaid fix this lady’s problem. I initially thought for sure it was my tie rod ends because there was the most minimal...
So far I’ve done the Apex 2.5 ton complete system. I’ve had it aligned twice and tires balanced. Installed the steer smarts sector shaft brace today. It definitely feels better on the steering as far as tightness and feeling less input from the road. It was all pretty smooth road coming home so...
Oh yes that’s exactly what I am seeing in it, probably a slight bit more. Not slop, just the steering box in itself flexing on the frame. But on a side note, it got up to 60 here today. It was 49 when I left for work this morning. Never did it in any of the places it normally will at the speed...
I agree, I have a heavy duty track bar, I’ve installed 2.5 ton steering as well. I knew from the start it wasn’t gonna ride like my 2019 Chevy trail boss. But it still amazes me how it does drive, ride and handle. It’s just that bump at around 35-40 mph that sends it into death wobble that’s...
Yes I am installing a steer smarts sector shaft brace this weekend. I had actually found the steering box bolts a little loose a couple weeks ago and was hoping that was it. Had my wife turning the wheel because I could hear it. It was the steering box flexing off the frame then setting back...
I have actually noticed like a grease, not fluid coming out of the input ( steering wheel ) side. I could smell it coming in through the air vents, smelled like grease anyhow. It’s not power steering fluid. I am seeing a lot of deflection ( movement ) in the whole steering box. I can physically...
Yeah I’ve paid really close attention to the track bar and making sure it stays tight. It’s gotta be tightened to almost 200 ft lb. mine has the updated metal steering box on it from the factory. But I am seeing a lot of deflection in it. But the steering box bolts are tight.
My dealership was actually able to replicate it right away within the first half mile of the dealership ?. He said yup...it’s definitely death wobble ! ?
Yeah I’ve seen that, but I’ve also been told you can’t do it from the rotor with the tie adjustment plates. Especially with bigger tires, you need to do it out where the tires are actually going to sit. I tried it off my rotors but then when my tires went back on it was way off lol. Like almost...
