I’m with some of the others. I just added it on top of the factory nut and added another nut on top. Been stable for a year.

I used the American Trail Products winch plate. Very beefy and very easy one piece install. I also used spacers to bump the winch up to help the clutch lever on the Badlands clear the OEM steel bumper. ATP winch plate Rugged Ridge Spacers
