I might just have to try this, since I have to pull my back cab panel again. The funny thing is that if I break the panel removing it again, it'll cost about $300 for a new panel. I could just buy another CVPM for the same price and unplug/abandon the one behind the rear seat. ???
I do...
I completely agree, more shorter fakra cables linked together to ease replacement. Why did they put the CVPM back there?!? I do not have a manual and remember you mentioning using the clutch grommet, but some reason I felt I needed to run it on the other side... I'll probably switch that up...
Yes and no. Your idea was a great one and it proved that the camera was just fine. Unfortunately I believe that does point to a bad fakra cable, specifically the long one that goes all the way back behind the back seat (and dreaded plastic cover). I think my mistake was not running the video...
@ecidiego or anyone else who has done this mod,
Have you run into any issues with the front camera going out? I've had it happen twice now (while off roading). The first time I thought I was able to fiddle with the power cable under the hood and get video back, but I think it was coincidence...
@ecidiego Do you know if there's any sort of diagnostics in AlfaODB that would show if Nick's CVPM was showing online? I can check tomorrow, but I just disconnected my security bypass and those connectors suck to get to. I've been disconnecting it every time after programming under the...
@ecidiego
I just double checked those two settings and was questioning if they were correct as I was seeing yes and no in the log, as I don't think I cleared it. I set the values again and now my clean camera button washes the windshield and my steering column washer washes only the camera...
@nickd I feel your frustration, as I just went through the process and it is a lot of work with frustration. It's also a fairly big spend. I do see something that might be worth checking though.
There are two settings that should have been set, that I don't see in your logs :
VehConfig 2 off...
When did you do the mod and more specifically the Alfaobd changes? I made my Alfaobd changes yesterday afternoon and things just started working this morning.... Does your rear camera work? Mine did before the front camera worked. I could be wrong here, but my assumption was that since we...
Assuming that there weren't additional AlfaOBD changes needed other than the ones that Jimmy07 originally posted, I should have gotten those. But, I'll double-check.
Th original ones he posted were:
VehConfig 1 rear view camera- NO
VehConfig 2 off road capable- YES
VehConfig 8 off road...
You're right, patience is a virtue. I'm an IT engineer, so I really do want to know the technical side of why you have to wait. That would satisfy my curiosity, if anyone knows...
I've got the front camera this morning, but checking through things I do still have a little weirdness. So...
@Jimmy07 Thanks for the excellent write up (and the CVPM harness). I just finished my install and programmed via AlfaODB. I'm wondering if you can explain "takes several drive cycles and some time for all the settings changes to take effect"? I would think setting changes would be immediate...
Thanks @ecidiego I got it installed. The hose that connects to the pump could stand to be 3-4" longer, but I got it to work. This was easier (with your guidance) than the back panel behind the seat!
I've got some videos from my process that might help others that I'll get together over the...
That does give better access, but oh my! Does the pump on the parts list replace the existing washer pump and hook up the same way (electrical connection and fluid hose, with exception of adding the camera washer hose)?
I'm taking videos as I go, to hopefully save you questions in the...
@ecidiego Did you run across any good diagrams for running the washer hoses to the reservoir, installing the pump, and the washer wiring harness. I think I have part of it figured out, but this looks painful. Is it necessary/easier to pull out the reservoir?
