  1. Producing the MASSIVE Gladiator!

With all respect here, comparing the 3.6 to other engines built today is similar to lowering the bar on quality. I recognize that in any comparison there has to be benchmarks or similar data to compare with but given the technology in use today, the engines produced should be much better quality...
  2. Swapping up to the 4.10s

Don't care, he's making a second mistake. The first was buying a diesel.
  3. Swapping up to the 4.10s

My advice, don't do it. I have a JTR with 4:10's and 37's. I drove it for almost two years like that and learned to hate it. Just had a set of 5:13's installed and it restored my faith in the vehicle. I drive all over the country with it and with the large tires and 4:10's it was always in the...
  4. Is off roading too easy nowadays?

I have never thought of a beach as offroading, which is of course the problem with your question. Everyone sees it differently. My offroading is everything from a few miles on dirt to three hundred miles offroad in Wyoming and about the same length trip in Idaho. So its subjective to each of us.
  5. When to use/not use 4x4? Overheating diffs, transfer cases etc.

Stop listening to generalized videos done to make money by people who are reading their source material from some text. . I have never had a single problem from overheating either the t-case or diffs. That goes for the V-8 powered jeeps Ive had two. Its what they are made for. Going up grades...
  6. OIL, 0-20 or otherwise (couldn't find the other oil threads)

Yep, Im 77 now and do most of the stuff I used to do, just slower. I had many many hot rods and performance cars over the years with most getting mileage in the single digits. Wouldn't change a thing even if I could. JT’s are what they are, a good all around daily driver and fairly practical. It...
  7. OIL, 0-20 or otherwise (couldn't find the other oil threads)

I agree. I don’t know why so many people get hung up on mileage. No one likes to pay high prices for gas but if mileage is that important to someone perhaps a JT is not a good choice for them. Generalizing here, if you are going slow, weight is a big factor in mileage. If going at highway...
  8. OIL, 0-20 or otherwise (couldn't find the other oil threads)

Agree. I think this has largely been an urban myth perpetuated by kitchen experts. Guys add hundreds of pounds to their JT and then worry about how much gas mileage will suffer due to higher viscosity engine oil😂 😂
  9. OIL, 0-20 or otherwise (couldn't find the other oil threads)

Being a GM man all my life it makes me sick that they can’t even put out a tried and tested engine anymore without screwing up and then screwing their customers. Get that woman out of the head office and get rid of the union and start making good products again. What are they doing, copying China?
  10. Am I going insane, or what??

No you are over thinking it. Just drive it and have fun. I have disliked the rear end of the JT since it came out. Looks like they just stopped caring when the designers got to that part.
  11. Tow Capacity - Double Check the Math

All that you said true. Then there are the Home Depot contractors who cant speak english that believe if it fits in the bed….sort of, they can haul it. Amazing how many sheets of 5/8” sheetrock they can haul😂😂😂
  12. Best Tire Pressure for Comfort/Wear/Mileage for Stock 33" A/T Tires

Dont want to argue this. Do what you want.
  13. Best Tire Pressure for Comfort/Wear/Mileage for Stock 33" A/T Tires

Gosh, don’t get me started here😀
  14. Best Tire Pressure for Comfort/Wear/Mileage for Stock 33" A/T Tires

I have chalk tested and never found it valuable or worthwhile on my tires. The load on the tires makes a big difference. The pressure needs to change as the load and use changes. What really matters though is the safety of the tire while being used a particular way. Too many people get caught up...
  15. Dog barrier recommendations for small dog

I have a JTR and Springer and I have used the Dirty Dog divider for a ling time. Works great. Pricey though for a divider.
  16. Clayton 2.5 overland and pinion angles

Did kit come with center carrier bearing spacer? If not, buy or make one. They are about 1/2” thick or slightly more.
  17. Anyone know where to get high-quality clevis pins

Remember, the hardness of a pin needs to be matched to the use. If you install a pin that is significantly harder than the body it is inserted into, the result will be the softer body wearing more rapidly.
  18. Plastic Cover in Glovebox of my New Glad.

No one reads anymore I guess.
