  1. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

Is the jester considered part of the royalty?
  2. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

We camped on top of a mountain above Deadwood last night and had a mountain lion visit. We never saw it but heard it calling for over an hour.
  3. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

I really like that rear door locker, especially with the deadbolt, but not sure I'd need the doors of the cabinet to actually lock. If you've gotten that far into breaking in, you obviously have to to figure that out too. I've struggled to have convenient storage above my Expedition Essentials...
  4. Makita Hotwater Kettle and Coffee maker

Their “outdoor” stuff is green. I don’t think there is a difference other than color and price. The green tends to be slightly more expensive, overland tax.
  5. Fridge in the bed or the cab ?

The ARB Elements is specifically designed to be weatherproof. I'm not sure if any of the others are.
  6. So for those with Overlander rigs, questions..

I've been "overloading" for 40 years, most of which it was still just called car camping. If your garage can accommodate your truck with a RTT attached, and you can add a hoist to remove it, it's a relatively simple process for 1-2 people to remove and reinstall most RTTs. If not, I'd...
  7. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

This. Goose Gear originally used all off the shelf pieces but shifted to some custom pieces, especially connectors, that work better and speed up their building process. They don't offer their custom pieces for sale.
  8. Now what

A lot of accuracy in the posts above 👆 HD springs to carry the weight is key to make the highway ride better with less sway. No reason not to go straight to 37s. A good lift, I have AEV with their heavy springs but might go Clayton if I were to do it again but I'm very heavy comparatively and...
  9. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

I went for years but stopped going shortly after it got too big and Jonathan and Roseann sold it. Mormon Lake was not as good as Amado, just as the feel has changed since it moved to Ft. Tuthill. I exhibited with American Adventurist for several years before the event finally gave in to the...
  10. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Definitely risky as there is some movement between the bed and cab at times. I'm not sure what would give if it made contact, the camper, fuel tank, or cab. I suspect the cab might be the weakest point.
  11. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

Thank you for this Public Service Announcement. More campers need to see this.
  12. Awning with room

At 4.5' there wouldn't be enough room to do anything unless you're looking for a place for a shower/toilet. If that's your need, look into a shower awning. I prefer Alu-Cab but there are several options.
  13. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

I’m only 5’9” so I can’t speak to the height necessarily but it’ll take your weight. I’m in a Joolca Facebook group and don’t recall height being an issue for anyone. It’s a similar size to other camp toilets, if not a little bigger.
  14. Gladiator Expedition Rigs

I bought a GottaGo in the first run. It took a while to get it because they noticed a flaw and pulled stock back to make sure they were sending quality gear. I'm very impressed with ingenuity of the design. I have both options but have only used the bags thus far, not chem or compost. No reason...
  15. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

There is a Facebook group I follow. Their recommendation when I was having some trouble was to call service in Australia. Just have to work with the time difference. The website will let you know the best time to call. I did and they were super helpful. The system seems far from intuitive, at...
  16. Fridge in the bed or the cab ?

I recently moved mine from the bed to the cab on a 40% Goose Gear seat delete. I could take a picture or just repost the one from @flipboltz. I have an Alu-Cab Camper and the fridge just took up too much space in the bed. We camp with a 50 pound husky mix and she sleeps in the bed so I had to...
  17. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

We have done some serious rock crawling with ours on 37” MTs the previous owner had installed. I am looking forward to them wearing enough I can swap them for 37” Falken Wildpeak ATs with the three peaks snow rating. I’ve used them in all my previous rigs and they worked fine for rock crawling...
  18. Alu-Cab Canopy Camper Roll Call

Alu-Cab now has a roof conversion for the Grenadier, if they meet your off road needs. They're clearly not as capable as a rock crawler as a Gladiator but will likely serve most people's off road needs. That, and getting past the first production year of any vehicle, and in this case...
  19. Has any one actually USED their RockSlide Step sliders?

I checked but I don't have this one on video. My buddy who was sort of spotting said, "Well, that's one way to do it!"
  20. What are the "Must-Have's?"

Everyone has covered most everything. Good call on the MaxTrax you already ordered. A good shovel, with as long a handle as you can fit is super helpful if you do get stuck. Don't be scared of the Hi-Lift just learn how to use it properly and where on your vehicle it can be used. Check your...
