If you are wanting a class IV Receiver yes. You could put an aftermarket hitch receiver on the existing, but it will be class III (4,000 lb capacity). Edit: You will need to remove an aftermarket bumper to do so. So I would do that at the same time as replacing the bumper.

I believe you are right. It looks like the bottom picture. Although I believe it's made to put a hitch receiver on it, somebody cut a hole in the plastic part of the bumper and just put a ball in it's place. Therefore an aftermarket bumper made for the Gladiator should fit after removing the ball.

I couldn't say sure without measuring a new bumper to the existing mounts. If it doesn't obstruct the OEM bumper (or have modifications made to it), it may not obstruct a new bumper. You could always remove the ball mount with a torch or cutting blade on a grinder. Unless you are wanting to...

Hard to tell from that angle, but it looks like a bumper hitch. Normal factory or aftermarket installed hitches have a receiver that a ball mount would fit into. I wouldn't haul a lot of weight with a bumper hitch.
