Remounted original tires/wheels. Low speed vibration (5-10mph) resolved (maybe just aggressive tread pattern?) Vibrations reduced greatly at ~25mph. Still felt some around 50, but maybe only 70% less. Now I’m thinking it’s a combination of rear driveline issue with larger heavier tires that are...
Okay, doesn’t apppear to be related to Fad or front drive shaft. I removed it, went for a test drive and I’m having the same issues. Next step is to mount the original tires/wheels and see if that resolves it. Vibrations continue whether under load or coasting.
So, it appears my Gladiator does not have the FAD. In addition, the angle between the transfer case and the front drive shaft appears to be really steep. Not binding, but about a small fingers width away from touching the edge of the silver ring on the output of the tc.
So, I need a new...
My Gladiator is stock other than the lift, wheels/tires. I had the tires rebalanced Monday thinking that could be some of it, but it didn’t help. Front caster is about 5.5 degrees.
It’s a Rubicon. I have a little side to side shimmy in the steering wheel, but I can also feel it in the seat. It does not seem to improve if I let off the gas…so I’m wondering if it’s a driveshaft out of balance? The JT has always had a little roar like something was slightly out of balance...
The bottom number “driven member” is the pinion angle of the rear axle (4 degrees). Currently I have 2.1 degrees of difference between the pinion angle and drive shaft angle.
Hi everyone, I just installed a Clayton 2.5” Lift on my JT and I’m trying to track down some vibration that I have when driving. I’m wondering if it might be related to my pinion angle. Alignment shop told me to get a spacer for my carrier bearing which I’ve installed and I’ve adjusted my track...
Took my Jeep to a friend who builds race cars and he measured the pinion at 1.8 up and the driveshaft at 7-8 down (don’t remember the exact number). He recommended a spacer to overcome the difference. Thanks everyone, I’ll look at the Rockjock.
Hi all, installed a Clayton Overland 2.5 lift on my JTR over the weekend. Gained about 3.5 inches of lift all around. Took it for an alignment today and the tech said my pinion angle is about 5 degrees. Suggested getting a spacer for the carrier bearing instead of adjusting at the arms. Is that...
@Clayton Off Road I was at the GSM Jeep Invasion this weekend and missed you folks! While there JKS offered a 20% discount for their lift kits, shocks, etc. I am almost ready to place an order with them, but wanted to check with you folks first. Any sales upcoming or chance of a discount? I’d...
