Last year I did 3 months and 20K miles total . My aviator was my home away from home.
Started out in South Florida (home) traveled west to Grand Canyon... then north through Utah and the many national parks. Only "scheduled" stop was a 5 day float fishing trip on the Green River with 2 my...
It's especially helpful when driving distances between camping-fishing-hunting locations. I utilize a 60 amp -12vdc breaker where my connection is made to the Jeep, better than a fuse IMO. In addition the connection is through a 50 amp Anderson connector.
You seem to have a good handle on...
As you can see in my avatar I use solar on my small travel trailer. I also use a 50 amp MPPT-DC-DC charger controller that allows me to utilize the Jeep's 240 amp alternator for charging my 4-100 a/h batteries while driving. The MPPT for your set up doesn't have to be more than 20 amps...
That's what I do too... just take the bars off. In addition the redarc trailer controler has an off road mode that definitely helps when you get into some 'rough' situations. In fact I ran into another off road camper who was pulling a tear drop R-pod trailer and bent his trailer tongue when he...
Since there is no "tow mode" your driving senses (audible and watching the tach) become the tow mode. In addition use higher octane fuel at lower/near sea level driving. I saw a 1.2 mile per gallon increase while towing. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's a 12% increase in mileage when...
Get air bags. They're cheap and easy to install. The engine is weak when towing. Lack of low end torque hurts the towing performance. Don't be afraid to see 4500 RPM , lugging is worse than revving, and manually shift.
Everyone else covered the other stuff.
True dat.
Most don't understand vehicle sway control isn't the same as trailer control on the Jeep. I like the
Redarc since it has an off road setting.
So many unanswered possibilities. The usual culprit is unmitigated dynamic weight changes. I use 700lb WD bars on my set up along with air bags running at 20-25lbs.. What's your ride height change after the hitch is loaded? The trailer should be flat or slightly down towards the hitch and the...
Not familiar with the Jeep 3.0 oil burner, but my other trucks are diesels. Controlling the oil temperature is a critical issue for overall engine cooling. After market oil cooler from Mishimoto might be an option. Maybe an aluminum radiator, or some supplemental cooling.
As a thought...
Here's my experiences and opinions. If you intend to tow, then max tow or the Rubicon offers the best package. Max Tow Package is engineered for the Sport trims and includes a 4.10 axle ratio, Dana 44 axles, and a 240-amp alternator. These features that are standard on the Rubicon, I believe...
Mobil 1, while widely used and API-certified, showed poorer wear protection in the Four-ball test compared to top contenders like Amsoil and Royal Purple, indicating limitations in certain high-stress scenarios.
For practical real-world validation, oil analysis labs like Amsoil/Oil Analyzers...
