When my tuner looked at the issue some time ago for my 21 Overland JT the Aussies wanted the ECU sent over so they could unlock it and said if the service agent ever does a reflash it would all have to be done again. That is a PITA and won't happen. I like your system where warranty won't be...
I live in a far away country, New Zealand. Can all of this, including the unlock, be done remotely? Our regulations don't preclude deletion of EGR etc., can your tunes be adapted to reflect this deletion? I have a really good tuner here who can apply all these upgrades and a 2023 Gladiator...
Its unlikely the two are related, it apparently hydrolocked on a mixture of water and oil. The initial fail you see on video one was probably caused by the PCV system being overwhelmed by oil and feeding into the intake manifold creating enough pressure to cause a failure of the head gasket and...
The final photo is of the instrument panel showing no alerts except the amber check engine which came on after the lockup. I'd have been doing maybe 2500-3000rpm at the time.
UPDATE: This problem is solved now. The engine hydrolocked on a steep climb and bent some rods at 13,000km and Jeep NZ are replacing the whole engine under warranty. If the new one rattles the same I'm out.
Thanks for all the info folks, I’m in New Zealand and have been waiting 3 months or more for a replacement motorcycle windscreen so international freight is not working any more. Can I see some photos of the winch plate you used and I might be able to make one? Thanks
I get your point about the recording quality, I just listened to it on my office PC and its not clear at all. On the Laptop and phone its very clear. Not sure how else I'd record it than from inside the cabin, its only noticeable under light-medium loads and much more on the driver's side...
I’ve posted on this before but the sound didn’t come through the video well. I’ve got a much better vid now.
I’ve also discovered Jeep have realised there’s a problem with the camshaft phaser - usually on the right head and this is what I think it is.
it’s not all the time but most of the time...
I found out from the Jeep service agent this morning that there is a known issue with some of the 3.6L engines that causes a noise issue and they give a procedure for diagnosis. If the procedure fails Its the phaser, usually on the right bank. I assume its a VVT phaser?

I notice in the brochure the JT rubicon bumper is supposed to be winch ready but I don’t see any provision
to mount one? Any pics of your installation? I’ve got about 5 different winches including a Runva hydraulic, a Thompson, Superwinch and a Warn unit but no high mount.
Its definitely there and I can hear it even at low volume on both phone and laptop. Its a light tapping sound very similar to a diesel knock - or piston slap.
I was thinking about that, but it'd be a difficult sound to capture, I'll have a go though
Hopefully you can hear it on this video, it sounds like a diesel, but its Gasoline 3.6 of course
