Just checked the Jeep build and price page. They have re-added the ecodiesel to the '18 Grand Cherokee build option list. I have checked periodically for a while since 2017 when they removed it due to teh whole "emissions" thing. This could be a good sign for the JT.

The emissions issue was resolved awhile ago and you have been able to get the Ram 1500 with the diesel. However the new 2019 Rams have not yet offered the diesel and are expected to get an updated version of the 3.0. There is some good information over at 5thgenram about the issues that were being experienced on the previous iteration of the engine

Yes, but it had been pulled off the Grand Cherokee since early 2017. I'm hoping that since they added it back onto the Jeep page they're making more progress and getting closer to roll out.

My point was the current version is emission certified, meaning no barrier to putting it into production vehicles, however they are working on an updated version that will hopefully address some of the issues experienced. The only reason it was pulled was due to getting it certified by the EPA, that has been resolved. The new version will also have to pass emissions, but it is likely that is not the hold up, before it can get released. Once you see it as an option on the Ram it will also be available for the Jeep lineup

1997 TJ, 2017 JKU, 2022 JTRD ordered.
The engine options all have to be certified for safety as well. All the crash tests, roll over tests, stopping, towing, etc.
